The U.S. debate on immigration reform is about to start

From www.BlueLatinos.org,

US Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has set this Wednesday, May 16 as the day when Senators will vote on whether to move ahead with the debate on how to fix our broken immigration system — or to postpone it yet again.

Follow the link below to urge your two Senators to fix our broken system that is breaking the lives of millions of people.(1) — Click Here

The stakes are high. If the Senate does not address immigration reform this year, we will have to wait until 2009; nobody expects Congress to do a thing about immigration during the presidential election next year.

If the Senate does not move ahead with the debate, we are looking at two more years of millions of people living in fear; two more years of raids that tear children from their parents; two more years of shattered dreams from students barred from going to college all because our political leaders would not do their job.

A poll conducted by CNN during this past Cinco de Mayo weekend found that 80 percent of adults supported the idea of providing undocumented immigrants - who have lived here for a number of years, have a job and paid back taxes- legal
status and to put them on a path towards citizenship.(2)

Like many others, this poll shows that the public is yet again ahead of our political leaders. Take a moment to lead your two senators towards a YES vote to move ahead with the debate — Click here for details

America is ready.

En la lucha,
