US Immigration Judgeships - Infested With Right-Wing GOP ‘Rethuglicans’

BUSH’S REPUBLICAN IMMIGRATION CONSPIRACY

Washington Post [Monday, June 11, 2007] — The Bush administration has over the last six years, increasingly emphasized partisan political ties over expertise in recent years in selecting the judges who decide the fate of hundreds of thousands of immigrants, despite laws that preclude such considerations, according to an analysis by The Washington Post.

At least one-third of the immigration judges appointed by the Justice Department since 2004 have had Republican connections or have been administration insiders, and half lacked experience in immigration law, Justice Department, immigration court and other records show.

These appointments, all made by the attorney general, have begun to reshape a system of courts in which judges, ruling alone, exercise broad powers — deporting each year nearly a quarter-million immigrants, who have limited rights to appeal and no right to an attorney. The judges do not serve fixed terms.

All the judges appointed during this period who arrived with experience in immigration law were prosecutors or held other immigration enforcement jobs. That was a reversal of a trend during the Clinton administration in which the Justice Department sought to balance such appointees with ones who had been attorneys representing immigrants, according to current and former immigration judges.

My View:

This revelation just emphasizes why Alberto Gonzalez, a Hispanic American and Bush’s Attorney General has failed not only the Hispanic community, but JUSTICE in America in general.

This son of Mexican migrant workers, has stood by and watched as the right-wing ‘Rethuglican‘ bigots of George Bush’s party, have taken over the immigration court system of the United States — wantonly breaking up immigrant families via mass confinement in immigration camps, leading to mass deportations — without fair hearings.

As the country’s chief law enforcement official, Mr. Gonzalez has exercised little independence, only every now and then offering weak denunciations of right-wing ‘Rethuglican’ Judges, as they tear apart immigrant families.

Sadly, like Condoleezza Rice, Mr. Gonzalez is a prototypical example of brilliant, successful blacks and Hispanics, who have allowed themselves to be used by the Republican Party “for an illusion of ‘black and brown’ inclusion,” in a party infested with filthy bigots and vicious racists.

Alberto Gonzalez is a “criminal waste of talent,” presiding over the “Hitlerization of America,” on behalf of Bush and the evil thugs in the Republican Party.
