George W. Bush And The “War On Terror”

President Bush uses the “war on terror” as a distraction from his many domestic failures. We face a very real threat from Islamic radicals, but Bush cynically uses the fear of terrorism to manipulate the American public.

If Dubya were serious about combating terrorism he would appoint the best minds to deal with this vexing problem, instead we have the Keystone Kops in charge of confronting al Qaeda.

They say that “God protects fools, drunks and children”; the deity must have his hands full protecting Bush and his merry band of idiots from the consequences of their idiotic actions.

We have a commander-in-chief who fights terrorism by invading and occupying a nation (Iraq) that had no links to al Qaeda, and thereby making that country a magnet and safe haven for terrorists.

CommonDreams.Org has an excellent Web page that details the Bush administration’s Top 40 Lies about War and Terrorism. I strongly urge everyone to read this important document:

http://www.commondreams.org/views03/0730-06.htm

We have an incompetent Attorney General who “protects” Americans from terrorists by stripping us of our civil rights.

And then there is Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff who declares that he has a “gut feeling” the United States faces a heightened risk of terrorist attack this summer.

Here’s my advice for these nincompoops:

President George W. Bush: If you want to deal to terrorism, bring our troops home immediately. The American occupation of Iraq is the greatest recruiting tool for al Qaeda and other Islamic terrorist organization.

Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales: The U.S. Attorney scandal and its aftermath has stripped you any legitimacy, and it has rendered you incapable of dealing with terrorism or any other problem. Do the right thing, and step down at once.

Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff: The next time you get a rumbling in your gut, take some damn Pepto Bismol, it might save you a major embarrassment.

Unfortunately, we are stuck with this motley crew for the next 18 months. It’s imperative that we elect a president, like Sen. Obama, who won’t use the “war on terror” as an excuse to strip Americans of their civil rights.
