Our brave warriors are still needlessly dying in Iraq because not enough of our cowardly senators and congressmen can bring themselves to say, “Enough is enough.”
Despite the results of last November’s elections, which was essentially a mandate for quickly ending the war, Democrats refuse to dry up the funding for Bush’s insane war.
Since the mid-term elections Americans are even more vehemently opposed to the war, as reflected by many opinion polls.
The Democrats remind me of a friend who is always complaining about his golddigger girlfriend. He knows that he is being used and abused, but he refuses to utter the simple word: NO!
Democrats complain ad nauseam about the Iraq war, but they refuse to put their vote where their mouth is.
From the LATimes.Com:
“Bringing to a close an extended showdown between Congress and President Bush over the Iraq war, overwhelmingly united Republicans and deeply divided Democrats passed a $120-billion emergency war spending bill Thursday that would not require U.S. combat troops to be withdrawn.
The measure, which heads to the White House for Bush’s signature, gives the president the funding he has sought for more than three months without any requirement that he bring troops home and only a handful of restrictions on what he can do in Iraq.”
President Bush is expected to sign the bill into law Friday — the madness continues.
The Democrats capitulated to a lame duck president whose ratings are in the dumpster; a profile in courage they are not.
Kudos to Democratic presidential candidates Hillary Clinton, Chris Dodd and Barack Obama for voting “No”,. I will remember how they voted on this crucial vote, when I get serious about deciding who will get my vote.
