A Priority For Some
It isn’t polite to stare, Mom always said.
Don’t get in the middle of a fight—or you will get beaten up for interference.
Treat others as you want to be treated.
I was talking with a Sister from Africa the other day. We commented on the emphasis on book learning as opposed to home training. Although it took a while for our French, English, Portugese and Dutch to nexus, we identified home training as the singular strength of the family. Without it, the child isn’t going to do much in the world but be a cog in the domination machine.
An adult, two is going to aid more, bring a lot to bear on a child’s upbring. A Dad loss isn’t going help matters.
While the ‘50s-‘60s maxims Mom laid down are not always the ones to protect someone in the 21st century, it did provide a framework for what I live by today. What cannot be denied is that the information shoved down throats and up brainstems that passes for an education is failing society.
Where would I be if I couldn’t respect that Sister or listen to that Brother, extend myself with wisdom to socially meet others? I have my self respect and that guides me successfully, if not always smoothly to this day.
Always being one hundred percent honest—a stretch in the global cauldron based on lies, surely is not realistic. Mom was partially wrong on that one because an oppressor or his drones will walk all over you with Timberland flair. At it’s core though, being true to oneself carries weight.
While we marvel at the gadgetry of the current world, congratulate ourselves on how able we are, there is a foundation necessary to reflect on.
If indeed we had that learning once called home training.
