If a pig is given a choice of strolling in a field of orchids or taking a dive into a pool of mud, we all know what it will do. Given a choice of taking the low road or the high road, Hillary Clinton invariably descends into the gutter.
At the height of the Rev. Wright controversy Hillary and her loquacious surrogates were suddenly quiet as monks. After all, why should Hillary publicly stoke the fires when Fox News was endlessly running the inflammatory Rev. Wright sound bites?
But as this quotation from Fox News illustrates, behind the scenes Hillary was secretly using the controversy to woo superdelegates.
“While most of Hillary Clinton’s backers have refused to say anything publicly about Barack Obama’s relationship with his fiery former pastor, privately top advisers have reportedly ’spent recent days making the case to wavering superdelegates that Mr. Obama’s association with Mr. Wright would doom their party in the general election.’
That report was carried in the closing paragraphs of a New York Times story today. The Clinton camp refuses to either confirm or deny it.”
But now that even race-baiting blowhards like Sean Hannity have stopped running the Rev Wright snippets ad nauseam, Hillary decided to make a public comment on the subject –. the conniving senator from New York wants to keep the story in the news.
“Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, in a wide-ranging interview today with Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reporters and editors, said she would have left her church if her pastor made the sort of inflammatory remarks Sen. Barack Obama´s former pastor made.
‘He would not have been my pastor,’ Clinton said. ‘You don´t choose your family, but you choose what church you want to attend.’ […]
The Clinton campaign has refrained from getting involved in the controversy, but Clinton herself, responding to a question, denounced what she said was “hate speech.”
‘You know, I spoke out against Don Imus, saying that hate speech was unacceptable in any setting, and I believe that,’ Clinton said. ‘I just think you have to speak out against that. Hillary could have done the right thing and declined to answer the question. At the height of the Obama bashing orgy, that’s exactly what she did.
But a pig will always wallow in mud and a desperate politician will always wallow in the mud.
