Alle weet ik zonder twijfel is dat deze kerel geen liberale goo-goo is. De republikeinen houden roepend hem naïve. Maar naïve is het laatste woord dat ik zou gebruiken om Barack Obama te beschrijven. Hij is het effectiefst politieke schepsel dat wij in decennia hebben gezien. Zelfs Bill Clinton niet slim genoeg was om in politiek te slagen door om van politiek te beweren afstand te doen.

Deze kerel is het gehele pakket van Chicago: idealistic, lakefront het liberale uitzien op a scherp-elbowed machineexploitant. Hij is de enige politicus van ons leven die wordt onderschat omdat hij te intelligent is. Hij spreekt zo calmly en polysyllabically er niet in slaagt dat mensen om de Machiavellistische ambitiebinnenkant te waarderen….[MEER]
