Barack Obama has announced that Joe Biden will be his running mate in November’s election.
Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr. (born November 20, 1942) is the senior United States Senator from Delaware. Mr. Biden is currently serving his sixth term in the US Senate.

Biden has served for the sixth-longest period among current Senators (fourth among Democrats) and is Delaware’s longest-serving Senator. Mr Biden, a 65-year-old veteran lawmaker, is highly respected on foreign policy issues.
