Hillary Clinton ended last week’s debate on a positive, gracious and humble note. Democrats eagerly and naively interpreted Hillary’s concluding comments as a valedictory and as a sign that she would finish her presidential run on a positive note for the good of the party.
Proud Mary by Ike & Tina Turner starts with these words:
You know, every now and then
I think you might like to hear something from us
Nice and easy
But there’s just one thing
You see we never ever do nothing
Nice and easy
We always do it nice and rough
So we’re gonna take the beginning of this song
And do it easy
Then we’re gonna do the finish rough
This is the way we do Proud Mary
Hillary Clinton started her presidential campaign “Nice and Easy”; an easy thing to do when you have the air of inevitability and a double digit leads in the national polls.
But when Sen. Barack Obama came out of nowhere to become the frontrunner, the nice Hillary was replaced by the rough Hillary who will do or say anything to win. You see the Clintons never ever do anything “Nice and Easy.”
Hillary’s benevolent words were an anomaly, the real Hillary surfaced moments after the debate. In the last couple of days she has screamed “Shame on Obama” for no discernable reason and ridiculed him for expressing hope in the American people.
And now in a desperate move someone from the Clinton campaign has circulated a photo calling attention to the African roots of the senator from Illinois.

Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., right, is dressed as a Somali Elder by Sheikh Mahmed Hassan, left, during his visit to Wajir, a rural area in northeastern Kenya, near the borders with Somalia and Ethiopia in August 2006. [Click on pics for larger images]
The photo created huge buzz in political circles and immediately became known as “the ‘dressed’ photo,” reflecting the Drudge terminology.” — Quotation from Politico.Com
Bill Clinton tried to marginalize Obama by characterizing him as the “black candidate.” Bill’s race-baiting failed miserably, resulting in Americans of all races voting for Obama in overwhelming numbers.
Portraying Obama as an African American candidate failed, so now they are going to portray him as an African candidate? The Clintons have no shame; I find it very difficult to understand how any African American can support Hillary.
“The Clinton campaign issued an official response to the growing tempest – but the statement from campaign manager Maggie Williams did not respond to the central question of whether staffers circulated the photo.
‘Enough,’ Williams said in the statement. ‘If Barack Obama’s campaign wants to suggest that a photo of him wearing traditional Somali clothing is divisive, they should be ashamed. Hillary Clinton has worn the traditional clothing of countries she has visited and had those photos published widely.
‘This is nothing more than an obvious and transparent attempt to distract from the serious issues confronting our country today and to attempt to create the very divisions they claim to decry. We will not be distracted.”" — Quotation from Politico.com
No shame on you Maggie Williams. Shame on you Bill and Hillary Clinton. We will not be fooled by your race-baiting. I hope Obama crushes Hillary in Texas and Ohio next Tuesday.
