“Massachusetts Rep. Barney Frank called Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia a ‘homophobe’ in an interview released Monday on a gay online news site, and said he hoped a challenge to a federal law widely disliked in the gay community will not be heard before the high court until new justices are seated on the bench.” FoxNews.Com
Politicians speak very circumspectly, for example they will call a blatant liar “disingenuous” instead of calling a spade a spade. I applaud Frank for not beating around the bush, and calling Justice Scalia a homophobe.
In a dissent to the 2003 case that overturned the laws criminalizing consensual sodomy, Scalia compared homosexuality to bestiality and incest. Scalia is the poster boy for homophobia, and politicians shouldn’t hesitate to condemn him for his intolerance and prejudice.
Scalia has yet to respond to Frank’s comment, he must be shaking in his boots at the prospect of getting into an argument with the combative gay politician.
I wish other congresspersons would join Frank in condemning the homophobic Supreme Court Justice.
