George W Bush turns down job offer from Dallas hardware store
The Telegraph, UK — Mr Bush walked into an Elliott’s Hardware store on Saturday and quipped: “I’m looking for a job.”
He had been offered a position as a greeter by the owner of the chain in an open letter in a Dallas newspaper last month.

The tongue-in-cheek appeal appeared in The Dallas Morning News and its commuter-oriented sister publication, Quick.
Andrea Bond, a manager at the store, said Mr Bush spent about an hour with his secret service security detail shopping and talking to customers during the surprise visit. He bought a few flashlights, batteries and a can of rust-removal spray. He also bought night lights.
But despite having a bit of free time, and not having yet found a publisher for his memoirs, the former president turned the job down.
Mr Bush and his wife, Laura, moved into a home in the Preston Hollow area of Dallas on Friday.
