“Venezuela’s president says he will expel a US diplomat if it is proved he has plotted against his government with opposition leaders in Puerto Rico.
During a televised broadcast, Hugo Chavez said he possesses reports that US advisers had met with various leaders from the opposition parties to discuss how to defeat the referendum proposal to change the constitution allowing him to run for reelection in 2012.
‘If this is proven, I will throw him out of the country for meddling in Venezuela’s internal affairs,’ Reuters quoted him as saying very firmly.” — [MORE]
The end of the Bush administration can’t come to soon; I hope that relations between the United States and Venezuela and Cuba will warm under Barack Obama’s administration. There is no valid reason why we can’t enjoy friendly relations with our socialist neighbors to the south. Before he leaves office maybe Bush can give Chavez a few pointers on the best way for a federal government to take over banks and auto companies.
The CIA has a long history of staging coups in Central America and South America. I give more credence to Hugo’s allegations, than I do to the denials of the United States government. The president of Venezuela is more credible than the American president who lied his way to an immoral, unethical and unconstitutional invasion of a country that posed no threat to us.
I hope Chavez will kick the US diplomat to the curb.
