Republicans have just launched an all-out assault to “deal a final, fatal blow” to health care.

Through their so-called “Project Code Red,” the GOP is pouring money into attack ads, misleading robocalls, and front-group activities in dozens of swing Democrats’ districts to scare them away from voting for health care.

The PlumLine: National Republicans are planning to unleash a huge wave of robocalls tomorrow targeting dozens of House Dems and warning their constituents that Obama and Nancy Pelosi are plotting to “ram” their “dangerous” health reform plans through Congress.

The robocalls — the first paid media by the NRCC’s new “code red” program, which targets Dems on health care — comes after Obama told Congress to pass reform via reconciliation.

The calls are meant to spook House Dems right at the moment when the White House and Dem leaders are about to undertake a grueling effort to round up support for what’s expected to be a hair-raisingly close vote. It warns constituents that the targeted House Dem risks supporting this “dangerous” move.

“Even though a majority of the country wants them to scrap it, Speaker Nancy Pelosi and President Obama are planning to ram their dangerous, out-of-control health care spending bill through Congress anyway,” the call says, according to a script provided by a GOP official. [ READ MORE ]

Media Matters For America: Fox News contributor and “Word Doctor” Frank Luntz appeared to make a very revealing error during his health care reform focus group segment. As shown in the clip below, Luntz asked the focus group participants if Democrats “should try to get any health care through and accept 51 votes as being enough,” noting that, “it’s called reconciliation.” At that point, close to half of the group raised their hands, apparently in agreement with this idea. After a brief pause, Luntz altered his question, asking who wanted Democrats to use the “so-called nuclear option.” At that point, several people in the focus group lowered their hands.
