“Pew Research just released a new poll finding that more than twice as many Americans see a Palin endorsement as a negative for a Congressional candidate than view it as a positive.

The numbers: Thirty eight percent say they are less likely to back a Congressional candidate if Palin “campaigns on their behalf.” Less than half that amount, 18 percent, say they are more likely to do so. Forty two percent say it would make no difference, only slightly more than see it as a downer.” Greg Sargent/Washington Post

Sarah Palin has all the trappings of a celebrity: A bestseller, a reality show, and good looks that have landed her in many magazine covers.

When Palin makes a public appearance she attracts true believers and normal folks who want to gawk at an attractive celeb.

Many people, including folks who should know better like political pundits, make the mistake of mistaking Palin’s celeb appeal with political muscle.

The Pew Research poll is proof positive that Sarah Palin has a very limited appeal as a politician. In fact, Palin is the kiss of death for a politician. A conservative politician would be well-advised to tell Palin not to publicly support him. When Palin endorses a candidate, the electorate wonders if the candidate is as lightweight as the former governor of Alaska.

Liberals shouldn’t fear Palin, she isn’t much of a threat. We should appreciate her good looks, laugh at her stupidity, and pray to God that she somehow ends up as the Republican presidential nominee in 2012.
