MediaMatters: Even after acknowledging it’s false, CNN and Fox News continue to push smear of Jennings — CNN’s Lou Dobbs and Fox News’ Brian Wilson and Sean Hannity ignored their own networks’ past reporting and continued to forward the discredited smear that, while working as a teacher in 1988, Department of Education official Kevin Jennings failed to report an underage student’s involvement with an older man.
Dobbs claimed that “Jennings admit[ed] to failing to report a sexual matter involving a minor,” and Wilson claimed that Jennings admitted that “he failed to alert authorities when a 15-year-old boy told him he was involved in a sexual relationship with an older man,” even though both FoxNews.com and CNN have acknowledged that the student was of legal age — 16 years old — at the time. Al Franken demonstrates why he deserves to be the junior senator of Minnesota. Franken ran for U.S. Senator in 2008 and narrowly defeated incumbent Republican Norm Coleman(a rabid anti-immigrant bigot) after a mandatory statewide manual recount. Coleman contested the outcome in court, but conceded after the Minnesota Supreme Court unanimously upheld Franken’s victory on June 30, 2009. Franken was sworn in to the Senate on July 7, 2009.
Republicans hate him, and always mock his stellar career as a writer and performer for the television show Saturday Night Live (SNL) before moving on to writing and acting in several films. Additionally, Franken is an author of several best-selling books, and previously hosted of a nationally syndicated radio show on Air America Radio.
For the record — Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity, three of the biggest Republican THUGS on radio and TV, have no college education. Limbaugh dropped out of Southeast Missouri State University after two semesters and one summer; according to his mother, “he flunked everything,” even a modern ballroom dancing class. Sean KLANnity dropped out of two universities — New York University and Adelphi University. Glenn Beck on the other hand, is a “recovering alcoholic and drug addict.” He also has a diagnosis of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. His mother and one of his brothers committed suicide and a sibling had a fatal heart attack. This creep is as crazy as his dead mother!
I note with pride that Al Franken graduated from Harvard College — cum laude in 1973 with a bachelor of arts degree in political science — an accomplishment which he is putting to very good use — teaching citizens freaked out by the relentless racism and mis-information directed at president Obama’s efforts to overhaul and “cure” the American healthcare crisis. His replacement, the humongous behemoth of a man, Mr. David Gregory, is a failure. He will never come “within 100 miles” of Tim Russert’s incisive interrogations of his Sunday guests. Gregory is always ill-prepared — worse than the tiny little weasel at ABC, Clinton protege, Mr. George Stephanopoulos. If he hasn’t done so yet, Stephanopoulos’s ‘This Week” will overtake Gregory’s “Meet the Press” as Sunday’s number one political forum.

SALON: Upon learning that Franken had prevailed in a unanimous decision by his home state’s highest court, the usual suspects on Fox News Channel and in the Limbaugh wasteland of radio immediately threw up a barrage of furious invective.
Wasting no time on gracious concessions, they concentrated on two themes. First: Franken himself is wild, spiteful, menacing, bigoted and, most of all, deranged (as must be anyone who voted for him). Second: Franken’s ascension to the Senate is tainted by the process, which his opponent insisted on prolonging.
Sadly, the most notorious Franken antagonist, Bill ‘Osama Bin’ O’Reilly, was absent from the airwaves on the evening of Franken’s victory. Demure guest host Monica Crowley seemed bemused by the Minnesota outcome. But Glenn Beck, in his semiliterate way, heaped on enough abuse to keep Billo’s fans satisfied for the moment. “It shows how crazy our country has gone,” he began. “It shows that we’ve lost our minds. It’s like we’ve slipped through a wormhole.
