REPORT: Top Fox News programs devote scant coverage to Haiti earthquake — On January 13, Fox News’ three top-rated programs for 2009 — The O’Reilly Factor, Hannity, and Glenn Beck — devoted a combined total of less than 7 minutes of coverage to the earthquake in Haiti, instead choosing to air such things as Beck’s hour-long interview with Sarah Palin, Bill O’Reilly’s discussion of Comedy Central host Jon Stewart, and Sean Hannity’s advocacy for Massachusetts candidate Scott Brown’s Senate campaign.

By contrast, the content of MSNBC’s three top-rated shows underscored the significance of the Haiti disaster; Countdown, The Rachel Maddow Show, and Hardball devoted a total of more than two hours to the earthquake. Fox Nation, a subsidiary of Rupert Murdoch’s EVIL EMPIRE, equated temporary protections for Haitians in the U.S. with “Amnesty” for “Illegal Aliens.” A January 15 Fox Nation headline asserted, “Obama Moves to Grant Amnesty to Haitian Illegal Aliens.” However, the article to which Fox Nation linked reported on the temporary suspension of deportations of undocumented Haitian immigrants and on widespread calls for the administration to grant temporary protected status to such individuals, making no mention of “amnesty to Haitian illegal aliens.” — [ READ MORE ]

Sean Hannity, the number one KLANS MAN at the Fox’s mis-information machine threw the word “EarthQuake” around as if the Haiti disaster is some joke! …..and Rush Limbaugh, the Republican Mouthpiece and the most despicable racist in media, tried his utmost best to discourage donations for Haiti, blaming “communism” for the poverty of Haiti, and President Obama for holding a news conference the day after this cataclysm when he did not hold one after the failed half-assed terror attempt in Detroit.

Not all Republicans are “Savages.” I am talking about the really racist tea-party nutbags when I use the word “Savage” — and there are plenty of them at Fox News, e.g slick racist O’Reilly (Osama Bin Oreilly), blunt bigot O’Hannity (Sean Hannity) and the fraudulent baboon Glenn Beck.

These are times when all human beings have to come together. But, for these bigots — I guess we blacks might as well all be hanged!

Xenophobia Vs. High-Tech: Over Half The Companies In Silicon Valley Have Founders Born Abroad

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Every American I’ve talked to says: ‘Dude, it’s ridiculous that we’re not doing everything we can to keep you in the country. We need people like you!‘” he said. “The people of America get it,” he added. “And in a matter of time, I think current lawmakers are going to realize how dumb they’re being.” –Sanjay G. Mavinkurve, a key engineer with Google — “exiled” in Canada.

Technology executives say restrictive visa and immigration limits have imperiled their ability to hire more of the world’s best engineers.

Immigrants like Mr. Mavinkurve are the lifeblood of Google and Silicon Valley, where half the engineers were born overseas, up from 10 percent in 1970. Google and other big companies say the Chinese, Indian, Russian and other immigrant technologists have transformed the industry, creating wealth and jobs.

Just over half the companies founded in Silicon Valley from the mid-1990s to the mid-2000s had founders born abroad, according to Vivek Wadhwa, an immigration scholar working at Duke and Harvard.

Mr. Mavinkurve, a 28-year-old Indian immigrant who helped lay the foundation for Facebook while a student at Harvard, instead works out of a Google sales office in Toronto, a lone engineer among marketers.

He has a visa to work in the United States, but his wife, Samvita Padukone, also born in India, does not. So he moved to Canada. [ READ MORE ]

Sean Hannity – Permanently and Irrevocably Infected With ‘Anti-Immigrant SYPHILIS’

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

For once I agree with brother Juan Williams, the HAPPY NEGRO affiliated with Fox News.

During last nights Hannity Show, Juan correctly rebuked Sean Hannity’s Xenophobic Anti-Immigrant statements, while he[Hannity] was challenging comments made by Speaker Nancy Pelosi:

Said Williams: “[I]t’s her responsibility to challenge unjust laws, and when you’re taking little babies away from their mothers, I say that’s an unjust law.”

As is customary, the racist, syphilitic, anti-immigrant bigot, Sean Hannity — sought to hide behind THE LAW, to demonize immigrants, who are being incarcerated in large numbers, and herded into American Gulags and “For Profit” Concentration Camps.

It’s The Law!!…It’s The Law!!….We Are A Nation of Laws!! ….Screamed Sean KLANNITY.

Yeah, asshole — the same kind of UNJUST law(s) that you used to shackle, lynch and rape Indians, Blacks, the Japanese, and everybody else who stood in your way, while you were stealing America and huge chunks of Mexico.

You Sean Hannity, are no different than the “Straight-Talk” Neo-KLAN Lynch Mobs, that you, Palin and McCain call the BASE. A breed of ANIMALS ….sick to the bone!

Most of these RACIST LAWS have since been repealed, and so will the UNJUST immigration laws in the books, that provide cover for people like YOU, Sean Hannity. You are not interested in anything JUST for immigrants. If given the opportunity, you would gleefully roast every single person of color in a NAZI Oven.

You are a despicable racist who uses the LAW as a “vehicle” with which to transport and proliferate RACISM in this country, ….a dying breed — hopefully!

Barack Obama should stop this cruel racist Republican war against immigrants

GILA BEND, Ariz. — Soon after Antonio Torres, a husky 19-year-old farmworker, suffered catastrophic injuries in a car accident last June, a Phoenix hospital began making plans for his repatriation to Mexico.

Mr. Torres was comatose and connected to a ventilator. He was also a legal immigrant whose family lives and works in the purple alfalfa fields of this southwestern town. But he was uninsured. So the hospital disregarded the strenuous objections of his grief-stricken parents and sent Mr. Torres on a four-hour journey over the California border into Mexicali.

For days, Mr. Torres languished in a busy emergency room there, but his parents, Jesús and Gloria Torres, were not about to give up on him. Although many uninsured immigrants have been repatriated by American hospitals, few have seen their journey take the U-turn that the Torreses engineered for their son. They found a hospital in California willing to treat him, loaded him into a donated ambulance and drove him back into the United States as a potentially deadly infection raged through his system.

By summer’s end, despite the grimmest of prognoses from the hospital in Phoenix, Mr. Torres had not only survived but thrived. Newly discharged from rehabilitation in California, he was haltingly walking, talking and, hoisting his cane to his shoulder like a rifle, performing a silent, comic, effortful imitation of a marching soldier.

‘In Arizona, apparently, they see us as beasts of burden that can be dumped back over the border when we have outlived our usefulness,’ the elder Mr. Torres, who is 47, said in Spanish. ‘But we outwitted them. We were not going to let our son die. And look at him now!’ — [READ MORE]

MILTON, Fla. — Three months after the local police inspected more than a dozen businesses searching for illegal immigrants using stolen Social Security numbers, this community in the Florida Panhandle has become more “law-abiding, emptier and whiter.

Many of the Hispanic immigrants who came in 2004 to help rebuild after Hurricane Ivan have either fled or gone into hiding. Churches with services in Spanish are half-empty. Businesses are struggling to find workers. And for Hispanic citizens with roots here — the foremen and entrepreneurs who received visits from the police — the losses are especially profound.

‘It was very hard because the community is very small, and to see people who came to eat here all the time then come and close the business,’ said Geronimo Barragan, who owns two branches of La Hacienda, Mexican restaurants where the police arrested 10 employees. — [MORE]

“They Take Our Jobs!”: and 20 Other Myths about Immigration

They Take Our Jobs!A Book Review

From Publishers Weekly: Drawing on immigration history and left-wing economic analysis, historian and immigrants’ rights activist Chomsky (Profits of Extermination) aims to debunk the assumptions informing the current immigration debate in this well-researched if stiffly written account.

She offers straightforward arguments against anti-immigrant perceptions such as the one in the book’s title: the “number of jobs is not finite, it is elastic,” Chomsky asserts, pointing out that in the “postindustrial economy,” many manufacturing jobs have been replaced by low-paying service jobs.

In response to the accusation that “immigrants don’t pay taxes,” Chomsky notes that textile jobs that were once a part of the “formal sector” are now informal (i.e., they do not offer benefits or collect taxes)–for which she blames the employers.

As for immigrants’ alleged reluctance to learn English, the author observes that as one generation becomes fluent, new Spanish speakers arrive; she defends non-English speakers by citing the waiting lists for ESL classes and explaining that immigrants with a history as a conquered people (e.g. Mexicans) more stubbornly retain their heritage.

Though Chomsky presents an agile blend of the history of race and immigration in the U.S. with current events, the book’s format of offering liberal polemics to anti-immigrant questions forces her into a defensive, didactic tone.

Publishers Weekly: “Chomsky presents an agile blend of the history of race and immigration in the U.S. with current events.”

Library Journal: “Solidly recommended for public library current events sections.”

Demythologizing Immigration, December 17, 2007
By Kerry Walters (Lewisburg, PA USA)

What a timely and important book. Aviva Chomsky takes on what she believes are the 21 most common misperceptions about immigrants. She looks at economic objections such as the claims that immigrants drain the economy, take away jobs and drive down wages; legal ones such as the claim that the U.S. already as a too-generous refugee policy; racial ones such as the claim that immigrants threaten our national identity and won’t learn English; and security ones such as the claim that immigrants make us particularly susceptible to terrorist attacks.

The interesting thing about these misperceptions is that they all have a ring of plausibility, and it’s to Chomsky’s credit that she takes them seriously enough to examine them in detail. Moreover, her examination isn’t a simplistic “no, that’s wrong” kind of approach. One of the best qualities of her treatment is that she helps the reader to put claims about immigration into a broader context.

For example, Chomsky points out that while it’s true that real wages for laborers are dropping in this country, it isn’t because immigrants are driving them down. It’s because of the last few years’ general flow of wealth in the U.S. towards the top, which is leaving almost everyone except the very wealthiest in the lurch. Or what about the misperception that immigrants won’t assimilate into our culture and hence are jeopardizing our national identity? Chomsky offers statistics that show that immigrants of color in fact do try to assimilate just as much as white ones, but that assimilation for them is complicated by the fact that it almost always means “downward mobility.”

Chomsky’s book is clearly written from a progressive viewpoint, and her conclusions, I’m sure, will anger many. But her book is valuable because it invites a more reflective dialogue about immigration than we’ve had in this country for a long time–and certain since 9/11. With presidential elections coming up, that dialogue is even more important.

Ammunition in discussion, December 2, 2007
By Linda R. Weltner

So many times I have wished to challenge the position of those tight-fisted angry people who want 12 million immigrants deported immediately and a huge fence built along both our borders. However, I never had the arguments at my fingertips to counter their charges that immigrants use up our resources, take US jobs, and give nothing in return. This book makes it easy to understand how immigration improves our country and could contribute to our future if we only treated immigrants as potential contributors to our national wealth and power. Right now, businesses need poor immigrants one down in order to exploit them, but Chomsky points to a better world in which all workers, including Americans, could work for a fairer economic model here in the US.
