Sadly, this great African Musician died in on on Saturday, August 2, 1997, at 4pm (local time) in Lagos, Nigeria. ومن المحزن ان هذا الافريقي العظيم على الموسيقى توفي في يوم السبت ، 2 اب / اغسطس 1997 ، في 4pm (بالتوقيت المحلي) في لاغوس ، نيجيريا. It had been rumoured for some time that Fela had a serious illness he was refusing treatment for, many said he was suffering from prostate cancer. وكان اشيع ان لبعض الوقت fela كان مرض خطير وقال انه رفض العلاج ، وقال كثيرون انه كان يعاني من سرطان البروستاتا.
