Proposition 8 is a California State ballot proposition (November 4th) that passed and is set to amend the state Constitution to restrict the definition of marriage to a union between a man and a woman.
If it survives court appeals, it will overturn a recent California Supreme Court decision that had recognized same-sex marriage in California as a fundamental right.
The official ballot title language for Proposition 8 is “Eliminates Right of Same-Sex Couples to Marry.” The entirety of the text to be added to the constitution is: “Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California.” — [MORE]

My Comment
Proposition 8 passed in California with 52% supporting the ban, with the help of intense “Fear-Mongering” by fundamentalist right-wing churches, who interpret the Bible literally — that homosexuality is a sin.
A huge percentage of African Americans voted for Obama and against Same-Sex Marriage, despite traditionally being among the most reliably liberal in the California.
Barack Obama has stated his opposition to the proposition, calling it “divisive and discriminatory.”
The results on Nov. 4 were negative for advocates of gay marriage not only in California: citizens in Florida and Arizona also voted to make gay marriage unconstitutional. The vote was overwhelming in Florida, which favored Barack Obama in the presidential race but still decided 63% to 37% to make marriage available only to heterosexual couples. And in John McCain’s home state of Arizona, voters reversed course just two years after defeating a similar, if more sweeping, ban on gay marriage. — Time.com Examines these results
I don’t go to church, never been in one in the last twenty two years, and I have no regrets, for I believe that the Bible and for that matter the Koran — are some of the phoniest extortion tools ever invented by man. Religion easily . . . easily, is the best bull shit story of all time!
From AfriqueOnline.com:
Europeans worshiping Jesus as the “Son of God” conquered, murdered and enslaved millions of black, yellow, brown and white non-Christians with the blessing of their god, shouting everything from “Death to the barbarians!” to “Destroy the Infidels” to “Enslave the savages” to “Manifest Destiny” to “Kill a Commie for Christ!”
Black victims of this onslaught of burning crosses now donate billions of dollars annually to con men who pray to the same black-painted-white messiah with more enthusiasm than whites do. — Read More
The same applies to the religion of Islam, and all other religions that exist on this earth.
To me God does not exist. It is an illusion …a very dangerous one, that has caused the most misery on this planet.
If you are offended, please forgive me, for I have no hate for you — I know that because I love my mother very much, and she is a “staunch Christian” — drunk with the “blood” of Christ, and under the hypnosis of an imaginary GOD.
It has never been a problem for me to extend this courtesy to all well-meaning human beings, over the years, however inebriated with religion they are.
Religion has been used, and is still being used as a weapon to demonize, marginalize, persecute and lynch Black people in Africa, in the Americas and all the way down under in Australia.
Renowned Kenyan author and dramatist, Ngugi Wa Thiongo believes that the first word of religion is a lie. Christianity, whose basic doctrine hinges on love and equality between people, is an integral part of colonialism, neo-colonialism and racism — which in Africa and elsewhere was built on the equality and hatred between men and the consequent subjugation of the black race by the white race. Ngugi has often noted with disgust how Christianity has aligned itself with the ruling class and given the lie to its own protestations of support for a humanistic vision of life. The church, in the views of Ngugi “has always been in alliance with the ruling class and adjusted its precepts to suit the need of that class, thus guaranteeing its own safety and security.”
Ngugi attacks religion as an instrument of exploitation and impoverishment of the poor. The Christianizing mission came with colonization. The missionaries are accused of holding the Bible in the left hand and the gun in the right.
The white man wanted us
To be drunk with religion
While he,
Was mapping and grabbing our land,
And starting factories and businesses
On our sweat.
He drove us from our best lands,
Forcing us to eke a living from plots on road sides
Like beggars on our own land…
The syphilitic racists in yester America did exactly the same thing….and they are still doing it today. Just because Creflo Dollar, a black minister has joined the racket doesn’t make it any different. Times have changed.
If these “Taliban” goons are given an inch, they will demand a foot.
Here is an example — after the vote, the so called “social conservatives” — the most racist and prejudiced in America — are threatening to roll out Arkansas-style adoption bans in other states. And the timing couldn’t be worse: in tough economic times, the numbers of abused and neglected children in need of foster care rises. But good times or bad, no movement that would turn away qualified parents and condemn children to a broken foster care system should be considered ‘pro-family.’ — [MORE]
In light of the above mentioned, and as abhorring as Gay Marriage could be to a “Church Going Person,” for me the underlying element of justice completely trumps the “fundamentalist and church fear” of homosexuality.
Sincerely, I don’t understand what a man would want in another man’s shit-hole, but I also do know that homosexuals are human beings and not animals. I also believe that homosexuals are born gay — scientific research supports me, despite many who acquire the “taste” out of curiosity. The “true Gays” did not choose to be what they are, and should be left to lead their lives as they wish.

Gay people who choose to get “Hitched” should be accorded all the benefits of married couples without exception.
Given the choice between the racist right-wing of America, who have caused hundreds of years of catastrophic harm to African Americans, and Gay Americans, the choice is easy — JUSTICE, however GAY it is!
And, blacks should lift their heads off the “Godly Sand” and join hands with the gay community in defeating the RACIST and BIGOTED right-wing.
Speaking frankly: Because this GOD-SHIT has been used for hundreds of years to persecute, colonize and demean blacks all over the world, and while the vast majority of Gay Americans voted for Obama, it is imperative that the black community join hands in beating up the repressive extremists in right-wing America — the chief propagators of hate — and a common enemy to all.
“Marriage” is just but a word. Bible thumping extremists should surrender it to the homosexual community and adopt “Licensed Sex” in its place. Then everybody will be happy.
