Speaking at a Christian supremacist conference a few days ago, former and potential 2012 G.O.P presidential candidate, Mike Huckabee — was caught on video stating:

“I almost wish that there would be, like, a simultaneous telecast, and all Americans would be forced–forced at gunpoint no less–to listen to every David Barton message, and I think our country would be better for it. I wish it’d happen.”

We recall that in 2008 when Huckabee, while giving a speech and upon hearing a loud noise, interrupted his speech to say:

“That was Barack Obama. He just tripped off a chair. He’s getting ready to speak and somebody aimed a gun at him and he — he dove for the floor.”

Obviously ‘FAT Jokeabee‘ was dreaming and hoping for an Obama assassination — just like his fellow Christian tea-partying Republicans.

They kneel down by the bedside every night, pleading to the good white lord: “Please get that nigger out of our White-House!! Please Lord….give us our country back!!”

And, more recently, in early March — ‘FAT Jokeabee‘, a former 500 pound gorilla and Arkansas governor, caused an uproar when appearing as a guest commentator on New York radio station WOR; Gov. Mike Huckabee suggested that President Barack Obama’s childhood in Kenya shaped his worldview — even though Obama did not visit Kenya until he was in his 20s. Huckabee added that Obama’s youth led him to resent the West, which he said explains why, in Huckabee’s view, Obama’s foreign policy differs so greatly from that of his predecessors. [ READ MORE ]

“The bishop of a prominent Baptist megachurch is accused of being a big-time sinner.

Pastor Eddie Long has been accused of coercing two male members of the 25,000-member New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in suburban Atlanta into having sex.

Here we go again… The pastor of an evangelical church is accused of coercing young male members of his congregation into having sex.

Bishop Eddie Long is a crusader against gay marriage, but apparently he believes that the Almighty has given him license to engage in gay hookups.

The bishop, who is African American, should sympathize with the struggle of gays to achieve the same human rights as everyone else. But the hypocrite thunders against homosexuality from the pulpit, but he indulges in gay sex behind closed doors.

By the way, this con artist has a wife and three children.

This isn’t the first scandal that has stained the reputation of this charlatan:

Bishop Long preaches the “Prosperity Gospel“, but the only ones prospering are the televangelist and his family.

The scandal-riddled televangelist adamantly refutes all charges against him, but his preaching style and mannerisms are as gay as all get out.

Stop living a lie, scumbag, divorce your wife, and come out of the closet. Dedicate your life to fighting for gay rights, and return the money you have fleeced from your flock.

Sarah Palin may not know anything about foreign policy or economics, but she knows which side of the bread is buttered.

Palin is aware that she must keep her evangelical base happy, that’s why in her speeches she always includes a line that will resonate with the holy rollers.

Fundamentalists believe that the guvmint is at war with Christians, and Palin is feeding into this paranoia by insinuating that Obama was behind the decision to move the words “In God We Trust” to the edge of the new dollar coins.

The decision to redesign the coins was made by the Republican-led Congress in 2005. Obama isn’t behind the move to ban the words “In God We Trust” from our currency.

The press and the intelligentsia are flabbergasted by Palin’s popularity despite her cluelessness about the major issues of the day. They fail to realize that Palin’s supporters don’t expect their Messiah to be an expert on climate change or geopolitics. As long as Palin rails against abortion, sodomites and the conspiracy to ban Christmas, her devotees will stand by her come hell or high water.

America must be faithful to its cherished principle of separation of church and state, the word “god” should be anathema in anything having to do with the government.

If our nation is ever to be free from religious superstition, evangelicals like Palin and more progressive Christians like Obama must both adhere to the principle of separation of church and state.

“Liberty University, the school in Virginia founded by the late Jerry Falwell, has expelled the Democratic Party club on the campus, saying that the national Democratic Party’s views contradict the university’s mission.

Said a school official in an email to the Democratic club, according to the Lynchburg News and Advance: ‘The Democratic Party platform is contrary to the mission of Liberty University and to Christian doctrine (supports abortion, federal funding of abortion, advocates repeal of the federal Defense of Marriage Act, promotes the “LGBT” agenda, hate crimes, which include sexual orientation and gender identity, socialism, etc.).’” [ READ MORE ]

A university is a place where eager young minds should be exposed to every side of controversial issues. If Liberty University will not allow freedom of thought and expression it should change its name to Liberty Theological School. By expelling the Democratic club, Liberty is expelling democracy.

The Liberty University College Democrats are a minority in the evangelical school; in fact I’m surprised there were enough Democrats to form a club. A university draws students from diverse cultures, and an enlightened administration will seek to make the minorities feel at home. Liberty University should be embracing the Democratic club, instead of kicking them to the curb.

Evangelicals have redefined what it means to be a Christian: A real child of God is a gun-toting, homosexual-hating, sexually-repressed, flag-waving patriot who always votes Republican.

The Democratic Party platform may be contrary to the myopic vision of Liberty University, but it’s not contrary to the teachings of the Bible. The Bible is silent of the issue of abortion, and Jesus never mentioned homosexuality. But the carpenter from Nazareth had plenty to say about self-righteous prigs who think they are superior to everyone else.

For all of their slavish devotion to the Republican Party, evangelicals have got nothing but lip service from the GOP. I wish evangelicals would have an epiphany, and realize that the Almighty is not a registered Republican.

Liberty University President Jerry Falwell Jr. has demonstrated that he is as backwards thinking as his late father. Christians of all political persuasions should think twice before enrolling in a university that restricts free speech.

Jerry Falwell Jr. will not be persuaded to welcome back the Democratic club unless enrollment plummets. I encourage all good Christians not to enroll in Liberty University until Falwell realizes that his approach isn’t democratic or Republican, but fascist.

In the interview portion of the Miss USA pageant, Carrie Prejean who represented California was asked by celebrity judge Perez Hilton:

“Vermont recently became the fourth state to legalize same sex-marriage. Do you think every state should follow suit? Why or why not?”

Prejean could have danced around the question or given a politically-correct answer, and she probably would have gone on to win the Miss USA crown.

Prejean answered: “Well, I think it’s great that Americans are able to choose one or the other. We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage. And you know what, in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anyone out there, but that’s how I was raised, and that’s how I think it should be between a man and a woman.”

Miss California’s response was inarticulate and rambling, but her opposition to same-sex marriage came through quite clear.

When Prejean’s inchorent response to Hilton’s question became a hit on YouTube, she was embraced by the religious right-wingers who have a passion for pretty bimbos (Sarah Palin) who toe the party line.

Prejean strutted her stuff before millions of TV viewers in a skimpy bikini, but yet she and Palin (another beauty queen) are embraced by evangelicals who are always railing about sex and violence on TV. I’m a godless liberal, but even I know that the Bible admonishes women to be “modestly dressed.”

Prejean was dragged into the always simmering culture wars, but she could have distanced herself from the organized religious right. Instead the California hottie has now become a willing Christian soldier in the fight against same-sex marriage.

“Carrie Prejean – who gave a now-famous response to a question about gay marriage at the recent Miss USA pageant 9 3 is featured in a new advertisement from the National Organization for Marriage, which says its mission is ‘to protect marriage and the faith communities that sustain it.’

The advertisement, which accuses same-sex marriage backers of trying to silence opponents like Ms. Prejean, is the latest step into advocacy for the 21-year old Miss California. Ms. Prejean told NBC’s “Today” show on Thursday morning that she does not regret becoming involved in the back-and-forth.

‘”I’m going to do whatever it takes ? to protect marriage,’ said Ms. Prejean, who started giving interviews to the news media sh ortly after the Miss USA pageant.’”It’s something that is very dear to my heart.’” — [ MORE ]

Even some staunch gay rights defenders didn’t criticize Prejean’s response to Perez Hilton’s answer. The beauty queen was like a deer caught in a headlights, and she gave an honest answer. But now that Prejean has made it her mission to deny gays and lesbian equal rights, she should be roundly condemned by everyone who believes in human rights.

Miss California represents all of the citizens of the Golden State, and she is working against the interests of the California Beauty Pageant by embracing such a divisive and polarizing issue. Prejean should come to her senses, and pick a worthwhile issue to champion.
