CNN anchor Rick Sanchez reports that when President Obama visited Phoenix, Ariz. on August 17, local minister Steven Anderson of the Faithful World Baptist Church, who strongly expresses hatred for Obama in many of his sermons, told his congregation that he wished him dead. In a disturbing twist, it was discovered that Chris Broughton, the man who brought an AR 15 assault rifle to the Phoenix rally where Obama spoke, had attended Anderson’s sermon.

In a later interview, Broughton said he concurred with his pastor’s wish to see Obama "die and go to hell." As many as twelve men were seen walking around the Phoenix Convention Center with guns on that day.

President Obama faces 30 death threats a day, a 400 percent increase from former President Bush, according to Ronald Kessler, a veteran investigative journalist and conservative who recently authored a book about the Secret Service.

Kessler notes that funding cutbacks have already left the first African-American president in U.S. history particularly vulnerable. The book, which alleges that the cash-strapped Secret Service is endangering the president by cutting corners, has sent shockwaves through Washington. "There’s no question his life is in danger." "Tomorrow, Obama could be assassinated … simply because the Secret Service was not doing what it used to do, " said Kessler.

"We have half the number of agents we need, but requests for more agents have fallen on deaf ears at headquarters, " a Secret Service agent told Kessler.

"There’s a tremendous feeling within the Secret Service that they are risking an assassination, "Kessler told Canadian TV.

As CNN’s Rick Sanchez said on the air, "This looks serious. This almost looks like this is coming to the point where we are even beyond maybe where this nation was on November 22 of 1963, when JFK was assassinated, when there was also an environment of hate in this country."

As racist attacks increase and protestors continue to bring guns to presidential events, it is strikingly clear that President Obama is vulnerable to harm. Are the Secret Service and FBI doing enough to protect him? Will they confront and investigate those who threaten our president so that they can be prosecuted and jailed?

We cannot allow funding problems to weaken the organizations charged with protecting the life of our nation’s president. In 2003, the Secret Service and FBI became part of the Department of Homeland Security and now must compete with 20 other agencies for oversight from their chief, Janet Napolitano. She must use her authority to ensure that the Secret Service and FBI put more agents on the ground to protect President Obama and confront and investigate those who threaten him. It is time for Americans of every stripe to insist that the Secret Service and FBI operate at the highest levels of effectiveness.

A group of terrorists operating from Somalia had planned three bomb attacks in Nairobi during the visit by US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton last month, the Sunday Nation can reveal.

A senior counter-terrorism official has recounted how the terrorists planned to stage simultaneous attacks at the Hotel InterContinental, the Kencom Bus Stage and the adjacent Hilton Hotel. Mrs Clinton stayed at the Hotel InterContinental during her visit.

The plan was hatched in Somalia and thwarted by Kenyan security officials who intercepted communication between the plotters and their accomplices in Nairobi.

The security official — whose identity cannot be revealed without compromising antiterrorism operations — said that the terrorists linked to the Al Shabaab group had wanted to embarrass Kenyan and US governments but their plans were thwarted before the attackers could cross the border.

“The threats were neutralised a week to the Agoa meeting in combined efforts by the military and other security agencies,” the official said. “The operation in Nairobi netted five crucial suspects, one of whom carries Danish identification documents but is believed to be a Somali national. The other four, one of whom is a woman, hold Kenyan identification documents believed to be fake. Investigations into their identity and plan are on.”

The official added: “While in the past the real target of the attacks has been Western interests, the Al Qaeda leadership has since made Kenya a new target. So serious is the threat that during the Agoa meeting, the Al Qaeda intended to strike at the heart of Nairobi during the rush hour.”

According to the security official, the masterminds of the attack were in contact with Mr Saleh Nabhan, one of the most wanted men by the FBI, and whose personal assistant, a man identified as Anas, is believed to have been coordinating the plan.

Mrs Clinton was in Nairobi in August to officiate at trade talks between her government and African countries courtesy of the African Growth and Opportunity Act, an American law that seeks to promote trade between the US and Africa. While in Nairobi, Mrs Clinton and her entourage were booked at Hotel InterContinetal. She arrived in the country on August 4 and left on August 7.

To reassure themselves, Kenyan security officials detailed officers from the elite presidential guard to her entourage. The streets around the hotel and those adjacent to the Kenyatta International Conference Centre, the venue of the meeting, had been closed to normal traffic as part of the security measures.

The information about the threat and what Kenyan security officials did to stop the deadly plans was shared with US security officials and has also been captured in a security dossier prepared for circulation in top security echelons.

The presence of Al Shabaab operatives in the country, the Sunday Nation learnt, is facilitated by helpers living mainly in Mombasa and Nairobi’s Eastleigh, South B, South C and Komarock estates.

Last month, Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka, Defence minister Yusuf Haji and Internal Security minister George Saitoti launched a public education programme in which political and religious leaders teamed up to discourage young men from North Eastern Province from recruiting into Al Shabaab.

Kenya has been in terrorism news since August 7, 1998 when bombers struck in Nairobi and Dar es Salaam killing close to 250 people and injuring close to 5,000. Later on November 29, 2002, terrorists struck in Mombasa, this time delivering a truckload of explosives to the Kikambala Paradise Hotel where they left 15 people dead. An attempt to bring down an Israeli jetliner which was taking off from the Moi International Airport failed.

Counter-terrorism officials are now investigating how Somali nationals are bribing their way into government offices and acquiring Kenyan identification documents.

“This has made Kenyan travel documents to be subjected to serious scrutiny by foreign governments,” says a government security brief seen by the Sunday Nation. “More recently, the Al Shabaab/Al Qaeda operatives have sought to penetrate the Kenyan justice system by going to court to bar deportation of their associates.”

The dossier talks of judges and court clerks who have previously been bribed by operatives but does not name them. During her visit, one of Mrs Clinton’s concerns that she raised with Kenyan leaders was about Somalia and the threat of extremism posed by al Shabaab. While in Kenya, Mrs Clinton met with Somali President Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed.

The Media has a way of portraying a terrorist as an Islamic fundamentalist who envies the rights and freedoms given to those who live in America. I want you to diminish the subliminal and commercial images in you brain and open your while you read this passage. The definition of a terrorist is someone who is someone who causes terror upon others. A suicide bomber driving a car into an embassy is not the only form of terrorism. There is a man whose face is hidden from the public. This man can be serving the Legislative branch of our government. It could be a guy in living in a big white house. There is even a chance that this man can be your neighbor, but you will never know.

Islam. What are the first images that enter your brain? You instantly picture a man with a beard and vile facial expressions, women are fully veiled, and children are held against their will, countries that are going through economic drought and a system with laws that defy humanity. A misinterpreted idea implanted in your brain.

Terrorism in the Middle East is NOT BASED ON RELIGION. It is based on an interpretation of a religion. Interpretation is dependent on mentality. Your mentality is influenced by your surroundings. In a way it is also manipulated by politics. A cycle of pessimism controls the lands to due to its recent history.

Before the crusades, the Islamic empire was the most advanced and intellectual region of their time. They brought the first hospitals, mathematical methods/formulas, architecture, first medicines, even the first documented philosophy for feminism. After the crusades, the European empires went through an era of Enlightenment and Renaissance. They discovered through the crusades that they were far behind due to the power of the Catholic Church. The people with in their hemisphere were still in denial over the solar system. History books claim that they inherit most of their ideas from Asia and Africa because the trade routes in the Middle East. They refuse to acknowledge what ideas were adopted from the Middle East.

Most of the theories on medicine were gained from the Middle East. John Locke was a well known philosopher whose idea strongly influenced the constitution of our country. His belief in liberty, pursuit of property, and right to replace government with a new one came from The Ottoman Empire. The empire’s economy was weakened from alternate sea routes through The New World and Asia. The Middle East was politically influenced by manipulation from intimidation tactics formed after the crusades. There were new forms of technology and a completely different age that neglected the Middle East. The Middle East’s influence on the world slowly vanished.

Through out the age of imperialism through the end of the cold war the Middle East grew a passionate form of hatred towards the super powers of the world. Greed from foreign occupation and political influence, the Middle East suddenly grew to understand the reality of their situation. Iran’s government was manipulated for oil, Saudi Arabia still holds a grudge on England from previous history, the issues in Palestine, Egypt was fooled into debt from France for the construction of the Suez Canal, Afghanistan was used by America, etc… Islam promotes a concept of brotherhood that brings them together, but the outcome can never become positive when you approach an issue negatively. They justify every action with religion, but their laws are in reality constructed by POLITICS.

Mullahs in Islamic governments have gained much power. Many people perceived the corruption of a capitalistic society around liberalism. Eventually people saw the liberal lifestyle as an opposition of Islam, but modernization would have never existed if it werent’t for the Islamic Empires. Remember, religion is based on interpretation but politics formed it into a tool used to control their people. There is a cycle of pessimistic philosophies that are easily influenced. The chaos with in the areas of the Middle East can be repaired if ignorance is demolished, but it is difficult when most of the people are very emotional. Aristotle was the one who stated the emotions overrides logic.

The ignorance of a manipulated soldier part of Al Queda no different then the intellectual limitation conveyed with in the minds of U.S troops. This does not include the lower class citizens who need financial security. Then again, most of the soldiers’ part of both sides has suffered from poverty. Both believe they should die for a cause that does not exist. The leaders from both militant forces are rich executives. For example Osama and Bush, Osama is a billionaire and Bush is strongly connected with oil industries. Their “rivalry” was sparked by business, but the media makes it appear like we are defending freedom. These are same tactics used to fabricate the cold war.

They are referred to as “terrorist.” Terrorism is the idea of causing terror. America is the number one supplier of manufactured weaponry in the entire world. Some times, you have to look at a complex issue in the simplest forms to establish an opinion. We prohibit the idea of countries creating weapons of mass destruction. Iran is a threat to us, but we will not tolerate those creating weapons. If you look at this conflict in Iran’s perspective, you will see the hypocrisy. America has numerous weapons of mass destruction. Iran wants only two, but their scrutinized from just the THOUGHT of using one WHEN WE HAVE ALREADY DESIGNATED SEVERAL DESTRUCTIVE WEAPONS. Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Vietnam, villages in Afghanistan, areas with in Iraq, etc…

Issues must be seen from every angle of the problem. Perception is a fundamental principle towards intelligence and the greatest enemy of ignorance. Look beyond what you hear from the media. Allow the voices of the deceased (whose lives and human rights have been neglected) to echo in your search for the truth. The truth is hidden, but it is not lost. There is only one purpose of the passage and that is to encourage you to READ!
