Olivier Odom and Jennifer Tipton said what really rankled them was the explanation from the gatekeeper.

‘He said it was a family park’ said Tipton.”

The lesbian couple was finally allowed entry into Dollywood after Odom agreed to turn her T-shirt inside out.

Dollywood employees need sensitivity training, for an employee to turn away a lesbian couple with the explanation that Dollywood is a family park is unbelievable and insulting to everyone who treasures human rights.

Families come in many different configurations, a lesbian couple is just as valid as a heterosexual couple. People are people, and gays and lesbians want to have fun in a family-friendly environment like everyone else.

Only Neanderthals who believe that same-sex marriage is obscene would find Odom’s T-shirt objectionable.

Country music icon Dolly Parton supports gay marriage, she is one of the few country artists who publicly speaks out on behalf of gay rights. It’s a shame this sort of stupidity happened in a park that bears her name. [ READ MORE ]

“Support for same-sex marriage has received a boost, according to a new CNN/Opinion Research survey released Tuesday.

The poll indicates that more than half of all Americans believe that marriages between gay or lesbian couples should be legally valid. With 51 percent of respondents saying that same-sex marriages should be legal, it is the first time that a CNN poll has found majority support for same-sex marriage.

Although more Americans agree on this issue, a generation-and gender-gap still remains. Sixty percent of Americans under 50 support same-sex marriage, but only four in ten of those over 50 feel the same. More than half of men are against legalizing marriage between gay or lesbian couples, but 57 percent of women are in favor of it.” — CNN

This is a landmark in our culture, just a couple of decades ago anybody who advocated for the rights of gays and lesbians to marry was perceived as a lunatic or a deviant.

Those of us who believe that everyone, regardless of gender, religion, sexual orientation or race, is entitled to all the rights guaranteed by the constitution are thrilled by the results of this poll.

But we won’t be satisfied until over 90 percent of Americans support same-sex marriage. It’s an outrage that 49 percent of Americans would deny homosexuals the right to marry.

Society is moving in the right direction, and ten or 15 years from now people who don’t believe in same-sex marriage will be looked upon as Neanderthals.

Pastor Eddie Long has been accused of coercing two male members of the 25,000-member New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in suburban Atlanta into having sex.

The two men, who were 17 to 18 years old at the time of the alleged abuse three years ago, claim Long wooed them with gifts, money and overnight trips, and engaged in oral sex.” [ READ MORE ]

Here we go again… The pastor of an evangelical church is accused of coercing young male members of his congregation into having sex.

Bishop Eddie Long is a crusader against gay marriage, but apparently he believes that the Almighty has given him license to engage in gay hookups.

The bishop, who is African American, should sympathize with the struggle of gays to achieve the same human rights as everyone else. But the hypocrite thunders against homosexuality from the pulpit, but he indulges in gay sex behind closed doors.

By the way, this con artist has a wife and three children.

This isn’t the first scandal that has stained the reputation of this charlatan:

The scandal-riddled televangelist adamantly refutes all charges against him, but his preaching style and mannerisms are as gay as all get out.

Stop living a lie, scumbag, divorce your wife, and come out of the closet. Dedicate your life to fighting for gay rights, and return the money you have fleeced from your flock.

“Former vice president Dick Cheney said yesterday that he supports gays being able to marry but believes states, not the federal government, should make the decision.

‘I think, you know, freedom means freedom for everyone,’ Cheney said in a speech at the National Press Club. ‘I think people ought to be free to enter into any kind of union they wish, any kind of arrangement they wish.’

As a liberal I find Dick Cheney’s stand on most issues anathema, but I commend him for taking an enlightened view on same-sex marriage.

Cheney has an intelligent, attractive and very accomplished gay daughter, it makes it very difficult for him to accept the conservative view that homosexuals are degenerates. If evangelicals and conservative Republicans realized how many of their friends, family members, and co-workers were gay, they would be forced to admit that gays are just like everyone else — no better, no worse.

I disagree with Cheney that same-sex marriage should be a state issue. Having the freedom to marry the person that you love, regardless of gender, is such a basic and fundamental right, it should be protected by the Constitution. Didn’t we learn anything from history, when Southern states argued that slavery was a states rights issue?

Dick Cheney has taken a more enlightened view on same-sex marriage than the President of the United States. Obama is against same-sex marriage, he throws gays and lesbians the civil unions bone.

Why are human rights organizations giving Obama a free pass? Everyone who believes in human rights, and not just gays and lesbians should demand that the cowardly Obama come out in favor of same-sex marriage.
