Early on in the presidential campaign my loyalties were divided between Governor Bill Richardson and Sen. Obama was the Young Turk with the gift of eloquence and the message of hope, and Richardson was the seasoned politician with the Mother of all Resumes. وكان اوباما الشاب تركي مع هدية من بلاغة ورسالة امل ، وريتشاردسون هو سياسي محنك مع أم كل يستأنف.

Richardson is supremely qualified to be president, he has a resume that few can match: Governor of New Mexico, Congressman, Chairman of the 2004 Democratic National Convention, Chairman of the Democratic Governors Association in 2005 and 2006, United States Secretary of Energy and United States Ambassador to the United Nations. ريتشاردسون هو مؤهل ليكون أعلى درجة الرئيس ، لديه عدد قليل يمكن ان تستأنف المباراة : حاكم ولاية نيو مكسيكو ، عضو الكونغرس ، رئيس لعام 2004 عقد المؤتمر الوطني الديمقراطي ، رئيس رابطة الحكام الديمقراطيه في عامي 2005 و 2006 ، وزير خارجية الولايات المتحدة والامم الطاقة سفير الولايات المتحدة لدى الامم.

But to be honest it wasn’t Richardson’s impressive credentials that captured my interest — it was his ethnicity. ولكن ان نكون صادقين ريتشاردسون انه ليس للاعجاب وثائق التفويض ان استولت اهتمامي -- اعرب عن الانتماء العرقي. Unfortunately, when many Americans see a Latino, they imagine he’sa landscaper, carpenter, field worker or dishwasher. ولسوء الحظ ، عندما نرى الكثير من الاميركيين لاتيني ، انها تصور he'sa المزارع ، نجار ، عامل الميدان أو غساله الصحون. This Latino columnist would have been delighted if Richardson had secured the Democratic nomination. وكاتب لاتيني وهذا من شأنه ان مسرور اذا كان ريتشاردسون قد امنت الديمقراطيه الترشيح. Richardson’s campaign never caught fire, he had the credentials, but he didn’t have the charisma. ريتشاردسون حمله ابدا اشتعلت فيها النيران ، وقال ان لديه وثائق التفويض ، ولكنه لا يملك كاريزما. Americans want a president they can imagine themselves having a beer with. رئيس الاميركيين يريدون انها يمكن ان يتخيل وجود انفسهم مع الجعه. The Average Joe doesn’t care if his accountant is a socially awkward nerd, as long as he is a whiz at solving financial problems. متوسط جو لا رعايه اذا كان المحاسب هو محرج اجتماعيا الطالب الذي يذاكر كثيرا ، طالما انه هو الازيز في حل المشاكل المالية. But we want a president who is eloquent, charismatic and likeable. بل اننا نريد من الرئيس بليغة ، والجذابه likeable.

Richardson didn’t even make an impression in the Hispanic community, probably because of his Anglo surname. ريتشاردسون حتى لا تجعل الانطباع في المجتمع من اصل اسباني ، على الارجح بسبب وجهات نظره انكلترا اللقب. I had a hard time convincing some of my friends and family members that Richardson is a Latino. كان لي صعوبة في اقناع بعض من اصدقائي وافراد الاسرة ان ريتشاردسون هو لاتيني. Oh well, I hope Obama considers Richardson as a running mate. أوه ايضا ، وامل ان يرى اوباما ريتشاردسون بوصفها ادارة ماتي.

In the Virginia primary I voted for Sen. Barack Obama; and I am doing everything I can to advance his candidacy. في فرجينيا الاول الابتدائي sen. صوتوا لباراك اوباما ، وانا افعل كل ما استطيع لدفع ترشيحه. One day when I’m in a rest home, I want to be able to tell youngsters who come and visit me that in my own little way, I helped elect the first African American president. يوم واحد عندما انا في بقية البيت ، اريد ان اقول ان تتمكن من الصغار وتأتي زيارة لي ان بلدي قليلا في طريقه ، فقد ساعدت في انتخاب الرئيس الاميركي الافريقي الاول.

I can understand why Obama has captured the imagination of the American people, — the senator from Illinois represents change and hope. استطيع ان افهم لماذا اوباما استحوذت على مخيله الشعب الامريكى ، -- عضو مجلس الشيوخ عن الينوي ويمثل التغيير والامل. Obama is one of those rare politicians who transcends party affiliations and even race. اوباما واحدة من تلك النادرة السياسيين من الحزب يتجاوز الانتماءات وحتى العرق.

But I can especially understand why African Americans are solidly behind Obama. ولكن استطيع ان افهم لماذا وخاصة الامريكيين من اصل افريقى هم بثبات اوباما. Jim Crow laws, that prohibited blacks from using “whites only” restrooms and other public accommodations were still in place as late as 1965. جيم غراب القوانين ، التي تحظر من استخدام السود "للبيض فقط" مراحيض وغيرها من الاماكن العامة لا تزال قائمة في وقت متأخر عام 1965. For an African American who as a youngster was forced to drink from a “colored” drinking fountain, a black president represents a quantum leap forward. لمن الامريكيين من اصل افريقى شاب كما اضطر الى شرب من "الملونة" نافوره مياه الشرب ، رئيس اسود يمثل قفزة نوعية الى الامام.

It would be a tragedy if the Jeremiah Wright controversy derails Obama’s presidential aspirations. وستكون ماساه إذا كان الخلاف يخرج عن السكة ارميا رأيت اوباما الرئاسي تطلعاتهم. The Whitey-hating Wright is the antithesis of everything that Obama holds dear: Inclusiveness and racial harmony. فان ضارب للبياض - كراهيه رايت هو نقيض كل ما تعتز به اوباما : الشموليه والانسجام العرقى. I hope blue-collar whites will forgive Obama for his mistake in not repudiating Wright months ago, and vote for Obama, the one candidate who can unite Americans of all races. وأمل الياقه الزرقاء - اوباما البيض يغفر له لخطأ في عدم انكار رأيت منذ اشهر قليلة ، والتصويت لصالح اوباما ، من مرشح واحد يمكن ان توحد الاميركيين من جميع الأعراق.

I still expect Obama to win the Democratic nomination and the general election. وما زلت تتوقع اوباما لكسب ترشيح الديمقراطيه واجراء الانتخابات العامة. When Obama is inaugurated as the next president of the United States, it will be a momentous occasion and a time of rejoicing for African Americans, Latinos, Asians, Native Americans, Whites and Americans of all other enthnicities. وعندما افتتح كما هو اوباما الرئيس القادم للولايات المتحدة ، فإنه سيكون مناسبة هامة جدا والوقت الذي من الامريكيين من اصل افريقى للابتهاج ، لاتينية ، والاسيويين والهنود والبيض والاميركيين من جميع enthnicities اخرى.
