What I didn’t like was the way the people hogged the whole sidewalk along the Amstel river. ما لي لا يريد ان الطريقة التي كان الشعب كله hogged الرصيف على طول نهر amstel. It seemed to get worse and worse the closer I got to seven hundred year old inner Amsterdam. يبدو انها تزداد سوءا والاسوأ من أوثق وصلت الى سبع مائة سنة من العمر داخل امستردام.

I like to step along at a good pace. اتمنى ان خطوة بخطوه بوتيره جيدة. I’m used to city walking. أنا أستخدم سيرا على الاقدام الى المدينة. But annoying the shoe leather out of me is the practice of those who decide to stroll three or four abreast. ولكن مزعج الاحذيه الجلديه من اصل لي هي تلك الممارسه من قرر التجوال على اطلاع على ثلاثة أو أربعة. Whether they are ahead of me or not, I make like a human wedge and divide them. عما اذا كانت لي من قبل أم لا ، اجعل مثل حقوق آسفين وتفرق بينهما.

Truly, if they appear to be upscale Dutch and are snobbishly acting as if they own the concrete, I’m determined to ‘bust them up’. حقا ، اذا ما يبدو انه مخصص لذوي الدخول المرتفعه والهولنديه هي تعمل بشكل متكبر الخاصة بها كما لو انها الملموسه ، وأنا مصممة على 'الكساد عنها'. But an Iraqi or Niger Delta sufferer better think twice about arriving in Amsterdam or Rotterdam harbor seeking political and humanitarian asylum. ولكن عراقي أو دلتا النيجر المتالم افضل يفكروا مرتين عن وصوله الى ميناء روتردام او امستردام طلب اللجوء السياسي والإنساني.

I don’t put my finger on one aggravating factor. انا لا وضع الاصبع على بلدي واحد عاملا مشددا للعقوبة.

The links to Suharto, East Timor, the White-first regime in Johannesburg and the African captives in New Amsterdam (later New York City) give this man no cheer. الروابط الى سوهارتو ، وتيمور الشرقية ، اول نظام البيض في جوهانسبرغ والدول الافريقيه والاسرى في نيو أمستردام (في وقت لاحق من مدينة نيويورك) اعطاء هذا الرجل لا يهتف.

What I believe it must be is an amalgam. ما اعتقد انه يجب ان يكون مزيجا من هو.

I put it down to the years I have absorbed experiences and related my own in a number of Europe’s metropoles. أنا وضعها لسنوات لقد استوعبت والخبرات ذات الصلة بلدي في عدد من اوروبا في metropoles.

The courageous and the sincere get their propers; I have been impressed by a certain breed (often under age thirty) that have begun to see what a oozing heap Western society is. الشجاعه والصادقه حصول على وpropers ؛ لقد اعجب سلالة معينة (في كثير من الأحيان دون سن الثلاثين) التي بدأت لمعرفة ما أ ناز كومة هو المجتمع الغربي. Their parents’ generation, ‘leaders’ and their people in general contaminated the globe and still they have gone into battle for a better world. على جيل الآباء ، 'القادة والشعب في العام الملوثه لا تزال الكرة الارضيه وانها ذهبت الى المعركه من اجل عالم افضل. Life’s twists have enabled me to meet inspiring people. الحياة اللفات التي اتاحت لي لتلبية الشعب الملهم.

I can count Amsterdam as one place that some of these youthful visionaries, imperfect and sometimes in short lived pulses, came forward to put action first. انني استطيع الاعتماد امستردام مكان واحد كما ان بعض هؤلاء الشباب الحالمون ، والكمال ، وأحيانا في البقول قصيرة ، جاء الى الأمام لوضع العمل الاولى. An age gap, sometimes separates these self described autonomist and anarchists from another group, elderly, Left or ex Leftists that brought about 1950s and 60s social change. عصر الفجوه ، واحيانا يفصل بين هذه النفس على الحكم الذاتي التي وصفها والفوضويون من مجموعة اخرى ، كبار السن ، وترك او من اليساريين السابقين الذي ادى الى الخمسينيات والستينيات التغيير الاجتماعي. People born between 1955 and 1975, ironically those my age, are the ones often missing in action. الناس ولدوا بين 1955 و 1975 ، ومن المفارقات أن تلك بلادي العمر ، هم في عداد المفقودين في كثير من الاحيان في العمل. That warms my heart. ان يدفئ قلبي.

But probably knowing that repercussions of hundreds of years of Dutch capitalist, religious and just plain oppressive power across the world continues to do harm gives me the neck prickles. ولكن ربما مع العلم ان تداعيات مئات السنين من الهولنديه الراسماليه والدينية وعادل سهل السلطة القمعيه في جميع انحاء العالم لا تزال على الحاق الضرر يعطيني الرقبه الاشواك.

It’s alarming to me that girls and women in Dutch and Belgian refugee camps and centers are raped routinely, according to a UNHCR study in 2008. انها مزعجه لي ان الفتيات والنساء في والهولنديه والبلجيكية ومخيمات اللاجئين ومراكز للاغتصاب بشكل روتيني ، ووفقا لدراسة المفوضية فى عام 2008. A third of the accused rapists are Europeans, staff that are supposed to be providing a haven for the victims. ثالث للمتهم المغتصبين هم الاوروبيون ، والموظفين التي هي من المفترض ان توفر ملاذا للضحايا.

As I move along, sidestepping others walking the Amsterdam streets, I can think of these incidents and causes of inequity. وكما قلت المضي قدما ، واخرى لتجنب المشي في شوارع امستردام ، استطيع ان افكر في اسباب هذه الحوادث وعدم الانصاف. The Dutch East India Company building is preserved and stands as a grim reminder. شركة الهند الشرقية الهولنديه والحفاظ على بناء يقف تذكرة قاتمه.

But I also have a destination: an active role in making sure that it ends, and soon. ولكن اود ايضا ان يكون المقصد : بدور فعال في التأكد من ان ينتهي ، وقريبا.
