Republican ignorance & McCain’s offer of wife Cindy to ‘Stinky Bikers’

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

While taking part in the “Sturgis Rally 2008” at Buffalo Chip, South Dakota, yesterday John McDUMB offered his wife Cindy McCain — a recovering drug-addict and a thief, to enter the “Miss Buffalo Chip” contest — a topless, bottomless and sometimes NUDE beauty pageant.

Said McCain: “I told her with a little luck, she could be the only woman ever to serve as both the first lady and Miss Buffalo Chip.”

Sturgis attracts upward of 500,000 bikers over a week-long period each year. Events at Sturgis include the “ringin’ wet & wild” a women’s wrestling event, the “pickle-licking contest” and the “miss buffalo chip beauty pageant.”

Stinky unbathed and sometimes naked, bearded men and women roam Sturgis — plastered with tattoos and leather garments — a rough looking pot-smoking crowd.

The sturgis rally is an act of immoderate indulgence, an emotional binge, a splurge of spending,….an orgy of drinking and sexual activity to be precise.

….and in trots presidential candidate John McCain, with an offering — his wife Cindy McCain. LOL!

Meanwhile in the New York Times, Maureen Dowd writes:

Just as Bill Clinton looks at Obama and sees his own oblivion, so does Jesse Jackson. As Shelby Steele wrote in The Wall Street Journal, Jackson and his generation of civil rights leaders “made keeping whites ‘on the hook’ the most sacred article of the post-’60s black identity,” equality pursued by manipulating white guilt.

Now John McCain is pea-green with envy. That’s the only explanation for why a man who prides himself on honor, a man who vowed not to take the low road in the campaign, having been mugged by W. and Rove in South Carolina in 2000, is engaging in a festival of juvenilia.

The Arizona senator who built his reputation on being a brave proponent of big solutions is running a schoolyard campaign about tire gauges and Paris Hilton, childishly accusing his opponent of being too serious, too popular and not patriotic enough.

Even his own mother, the magical 96-year-old Roberta McCain, let slip that she thought the Paris Hilton-Britney Spears ad was “kinda stupid.” …[MORE >>] ……………and David Brooks, the moderate ReTHUGlican is wrong again!

….and Obama said yesterday: ‘Republicans Take Pride In Being Ignorant’

Speaking to a crowd in Berea, Ohio, yesterday — Obama went off on a riff, laughing at Republicans who are isolating his call for tire inflation as the linchpin of his energy plan. After noting that his energy policy has a lot more to it, Obama circled back to wonder why Republicans were choosing to mock an idea, small though it was, that could actually help matters….[MORE >>]

McCain Lying and ‘Driving’ Dangerously — A Week of Blunders

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

If the election were a football game…It appears that Senator John McCain just ran the ball into his own endzone: McCain told a Pittsburgh television station that he recited the names of the Pittsburgh Steelers defensive line while under interrogation in North Vietnam.

One problem with that remarkable anecdote? Every other time McCain has told that story… He’s named the Green Bay Packers instead.

Gramm’s Slam: Barack Obama was handed a political gift — one that had the potential to keep… on… giving, when Phil Gramm (McCain’s Top Economic GURU) suggested that economic woes are basically a figment of America’s collective national imagination. Maybe Phil had just inhaled a “Gram” of POT!

‘Cheap Suit Spoiler’ Ralph Nader Broadsides Obama

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Nader: “He(Obama) wants to show that he is not a threatening, a political threatening, another politically-threatening African-American politician.” He is talking white — “He wants to appeal to white guilt.”

Independent ‘Narcissist,’ presidential candidate and spoiler, Ralph Nader took a jab at Barack Obama on Monday (see transcript below)

Yes, this is the same Nader that denied Al Gore the votes he needed to win Florida convincingly, in 2000 — in order to beat the current US “President,” Right-Wing ReTHUGlican dictator George Bush.

Ralph Nader

Mr. Nader’s got what he wanted in 2000 and 2004 — to punish the Democrats. He dit it, and now he’s back to do it again.

As the Green Party candidate in 2000, Nader won 2.74 percent of the national vote (including 97488 votes in Florida), placing third. But many Democrats [ME TO] blame him for siphoning off votes in key states, especially Florida, that might have gone to Democratic nominee Al Gore. Bush won Florida by 537 votes (Stolen Votes) and won the election after a 5-4 decision in the U.S. Supreme Court settled a protracted dispute over the Florida vote.

Ralph knows damn well that he cannot win, but will again siphon votes from the Democratic nominee — Barack Obama, and possibly help elect another Republican THUG.

Nader is a delusional narcissist who is destroying his own legacy with these fruitless presidential runs. In a year when the race appears to be tighter than ever, Nader might just be what John McBOMB, Bush’s chosen “Heir to The Slaughterhouse” needs to beat Obama.

Ralph, the “white power structure” you are talking about is so vast and so complex — no one black, white, yellow man or woman will beat it during my time on this earth.

It will require a revolution to do that — probably by other white men and/or women) ….and not Obama.

He (Obama) has just but poked this power structure with one “tiny nail,” and can only “bob and weave” his way around the Labyrinth.

For now — that’s good enough for most of us, and should be for you too.

At age 74 it’s time for you to leave….. | About Ralph Nader |

Partial transcript of Ralph Nader’s comments

Below is a partial transcript of independent presidential candidate Ralph Nader’s comments to the Rocky Mountain News about presumed Democratic nominee Sen. Barack Obama. The interview was conducted on Monday at Nader’s campaign headquarters in Washington, D.C.

Q: “Do you see Barack Obama as qualitatively different than Al Gore or any other Democrats. He talks about taking on lobbyists, not taking money directly from lobbyists … People portray him as being different. Do you see him as being any better than Al Gore or any of the other Democrats that you’ve opposed over the years?”

Nader: “No. I mean, he’s deceiving people. He takes, he takes … In this very building he would take money from corporate lawyers who are not registered lobbyists but whose desks are across the aisle from corporate lawyers who are registered lobbyists in the same law firm. That has been reported more than once in the mainstream press … Six out of seven industries, as of a month ago, have given more money to Obama than they have to McCain, only the transportation industry is more equal opportunity corruption.

“Look at the health care industry. It has poured money into his campaign. The securities industry, the defense industry. No.

“There’s only one thing different about Barack Obama when it comes to being a Democratic presidential candidate. He’s half African-American. Whether that will make any difference, I don’t know. I haven’t heard him have a strong crackdown on economic exploitation in the ghettos. Payday loans, predatory lending, asbestos, lead. What’s keeping him from doing that? Is it because he wants to talk white? He doesn’t want to appear like Jesse Jackson? We’ll see all that play out in the next few months and if he gets elected afterwards.”

“I think his main problem is that he censors himself. He knows exactly who has power, who has too much, who has too little, what needs to be done right down to the community level. But he has bought the advice that if you want to win the election, you better take it easy on the corporate abuses and do X, Y, Z. When I hear that I say, ‘Oh, I see. So he’s doing all this to win the election, and then he’ll be different.

“Well let’s see if it worked. Did it work for Mondale? Did it work for Dukakis? Did it work for Clinton? Yes, but only because of Perot? Did it work for Gore? Did it work for Kerry … ?”

Q: “Do you think he’s trying to, what was your term, ‘talk white?‘”

NADER: “Of course. I mean, first of all, the number one thing that a black American politician aspiring to the presidency should be is to candidly describe the plight of the poor, especially in the inner cities and the rural areas, and have a very detailed platform about how the poor is going to be defended by the law, is going to be protected by the law, and is going to be liberated by the law. Haven’t heard a thing.

“I mean, the amount of economic exploitation in the ghettos is shocking. You’d think he’d propose a task force to at least study it. I mean, these people are eroded every day. The kids, bodies are asbestos and lead, municipal services discriminate against them because it’s the poor area, including fire and police protection and building code enforcement. And then the lenders, the loan sharks get at them, and the dirty food ends up in the ghettos, like the contaminated meat. It’s a dumping ground for shoddy merchandise. You don’t see many credit unions there. You don’t see many libraries there. You don’t see many health clinics there. This is, we’re talking 40-50 million Americans who are predominantly African-Americans and Latinos. Anybody see that kind of campaigning? Have you seen him campaign in real poor areas of the city very frequently? No, he doesn’t campaign there.”

Q: “What do you think the purpose of that is?”

NADER: “He wants to show that he is not a threatening, a political threatening, another politically-threatening African-American politician.”

He wants to appeal to white guilt. You appeal to white guilt not by coming on as a black is beautiful, black is powerful. Basically he’s coming on as someone who is not going to threaten the white power structure, whether it’s corporate or whether it’s simply oligarchic. And they love it. Whites just eat it up.”

The Clintons and Racism: What goes around comes around!

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

By: Jonah Goldberg

True or not, the Clinton campaign has been accused of playing the race card. The irony here, of course, is that Bill and Hillary only have themselves to blame for employing the kinds of political tactics now being used against them.

As the Barack and Hillary Show extended its tour to such off-off-off Broadway primary states as Indiana and North Carolina (coming soon to Puerto Rico!), it was inevitable that both sides would dust off the "playing the race card" script.

Recently, Bill Clinton was asked whether he had played the race card when he compared Barack Obama’s South Carolina victory to Jesse Jackson’s in 1984 and 1988. "No," he said in one of his typical outbursts of enraged self-pity. "I think that they played the race card on me, and we now know â?¦ that they planned to do it all along." Then Clinton added to an aide — without realizing he was being recorded — "I don’t think I should take any s— from anybody on that, do you?"Oh, the ironies. First, Clinton’s initial comments were entirely valid. Obama boasts enormous black support, more than 90%, and that’s what put him (and Jackson)over the top in South Carolina. Second, while it’s arguable that the Clinton campaign has, at the margins, played the race card against Obama, it’s hardly been with much gusto, effectiveness or racism.

Where’s the racism?

Indeed, Obama’s spinners must be yoga masters considering how far they have to stretch to make their case. Betsy Reed, of the left-wing magazine The Nation, cites the Clinton campaign’s reference to Obama’s past drug use (raised most prominently by black Clinton surrogate Bob Johnson) and Bill’s belittling of Obama’s claims of anti-war purity as a "fairy tale" as examples of invidious racial politics.

Huh? Bill Clinton’s marijuana use was an issue in 1992 and, in 2000, the press went bonkers over allegations that George W. Bush had used drugs long ago. So why should it be racist to mention Obama’s even more significant drug use? Likewise, the use of the phrase "fairy tale" wasn’t racial. Even Hillary’s entirely valid, but now-infamous, observation that it was Lyndon Johnson, not Martin Luther King Jr., who secured passage of the Civil Rights Act can be described as racist only if the standard for racism is reduced to anything that hurts Obama. Dubbing inconvenient truths as "racist" is poisonous to U.S. politics. Which is why I have so little sympathy for the Clintons because it was the Clintons themselves who mainstreamed crying racism (or sexism or, in the case of Chinese fundraising scandals, anti-Chinese sentiment) in response to criticism.

Throughout his tenure as both "the first feminist" and "first black" president, Clinton Inc. routinely ascribed political opposition to bigotry. At a conference on race in 1997, Bill Clinton famously wheeled on Harvard scholar Abigail Thernstrom
– a high-minded critic of racial quotas — and bullied her with the question: "Do you favor the United States Army abolishing the affirmative action program that produced Colin Powell? Yes or no?" The tactic was no less brilliant for its cynical dishonesty. (Among the problems with Clinton’s ambush: Powell didn’t benefit from any affirmative action programs, which weren’t in place when he joined the Army nor even when he became a general.)

In 1999, when the Senate rejected his nominee for a Missouri judgeship, Clinton exclaimed that "the Republican-controlled Senate is adding credence to the perceptions that they treat women and minority judicial nominees unfairly." The Clintonites reflexively lamented how "angry white men" were standing in the way of progress, and even resorting to violence. After the Oklahoma City bombing, Clinton fingered the real culprit: Rush Limbaugh.

Then, of course, there was Bill Clinton’s double-dealing of the race card during his impeachment struggle. As my National Review colleague Jay Nordlinger noted at the time, "Whenever Clinton gets into trouble, he reaches for black people, as if for a shield."

Impeachment defense

The first weekend of the Lewinsky scandal, Clinton suddenly invited his old nemesis Jackson to become the family’s spiritual adviser. He summoned black pastors, radio personalities and a battalion of black lawyers. Slowly — but oh so deliberately — the message went forth: Impeaching the first black president was racist. Rep. Charlie Rangel compared him to Martin Luther King. In response to the Starr report, Rep. Maxine Waters said that she was "here in the name of my slave ancestors" to thwart the racist assault on this honorary black man. When asked on BET whether Republicans wanted him impeached because of his affinity for blacks, Clinton responded, "It may be," wink wink, "that that’s a source of anger and animosity toward me."

Newsweek‘s Eleanor Clift, the Clinton’s reliable water-carrier, got the memo, saying of the all-white Republican impeachment handlers, "I mean frankly, all they were missing was white sheets. They’re like night riders going over. This is bigger than Bill Clinton."

Hillary Clinton played similar games, of course, insinuating sexism when convenient. But even if she didn’t, it’s worth remembering that she wants credit for being something akin to a co-president in the ’90s. Fine, it’s her record, too.

It’s no wonder the Clintons don’t like it when Obama and his supporters cynically complain that attacks on him are racially motivated; they’re dealing his own race card back at him. This surely stings as Bill no doubt sees this as ingratitude from a constituency he has long taken for granted. And we’d all be better off if this card were tossed from the deck. But make no mistake: Nobody should shed any tears for the Clintons.

Book Review – Dr. Michael Eric Dyson’s: ‘April 4, 1968′

April 4, 1968: Martin Luther King Jr.’s Death and How It Changed America

April 4, 1968: Martin Luther King Jr.'s Death and How It Changed America
Editorial Reviews

Book Description: On April 4, 1968, at 6:01 PM, while he was standing on a balcony at a Memphis hotel, Martin Luther King, Jr. was shot and fatally wounded. Only hours earlier King–the prophet for racial and economic justice in America–ended his final speech with the words, “I may not get there with you, but I want you to know tonight, that we as a people will get to the Promised Land.”

Acclaimed public intellectual and best-selling author Michael Eric Dyson uses the fortieth anniversary of King’s assassination as the occasion for a provocative and fresh examination of how King fought, and faced, his own death, and we should use his death and legacy. Dyson also uses this landmark anniversary as the starting point for a comprehensive reevaluation of the fate of Black America over the four decades that followed King’s death. Dyson ambitiously investigates the ways in which African-Americans have in fact made it to the Promised Land of which King spoke, while shining a bright light on the ways in which the nation has faltered in the quest for racial justice. He also probes the virtues and flaws of charismatic black leadership that has followed in King’s wake, from Jesse Jackson to Barack Obama.

Always engaging and inspiring, April 4, 1968 celebrates the prophetic leadership of Dr. King, and challenges America to renew its commitment to his deeply moral vision.

About the Author:Michael Eric Dyson, named by Ebony as one of the hundred most influential black Americans, is the author of sixteen books, including Holler if You Hear Me, Is Bill Cosby Right? and I May Not Get There With You: The True Martin Luther King Jr. He is currently University Professor of Sociology at Georgetown University. He lives in Washington, D.C.
