McCain is bitter, frustrated and hopelessly obsessed with Obama

The McCain campaign – in a rerun of Hillary Clinton’s frustrations – are still searching for an effective formula for countering Obama’s appealing personality and fearsome political machine.

Too often, GOP insiders grumble, McCain’s strategy seems simply reactive. On Sunday, Obama announced he’d be meeting with his economic advisers on Monday. On Monday morning, the McCain campaign announced a conference call with his economic advisers.

McCain’s bitterness, frustration and near-obsession with Obama are on plain display: He even gave some free advertising to his opponent’s book the other day, complaining about the Illinois Democrat’s headline-grabbing trip.

“We rejected the audacity of hopelessness, and we were right,” the Arizona Republican said Friday, playing off the title of Obama’s book “The Audacity of Hope.” …[ MORE >> ]

The BUMBLING senator from Arizona is feeling the heat, and has resorted to what amounts to hurling insults via un-coordinated TV ads and stupid “I am more patriotic” statements in Town Hall meetings. For example, the one below in which he accuses obama of not visiting the troops in Germany — using footage of Obama with the troops in Kuwait!!:

Obama — We are one America

Perhaps the most stupid of McCain’s current Ads — is the one in which, a narrator ominously intones that gas prices have gone to “$4, $5 [with] no end in sight, because some in Washington are still saying no to drilling in America. No to independence from foreign oil.” Then the announcer asks, “Who can you blame for rising prices at the pump?” A crowd chants, “Obama, Obama,” and Obama’s face appears.

McCain TV Ad — “Pump”

Typical Republican poison — that will escalate as these THUGS become more desperate, as the campaign finale approaches.

The notion that Obama is singlehandedly responsible for rising gasoline prices is ludicrous.

The war in Iraq and Afghanistan, increasing demand from emerging powers like China and India, “big-Oil-business” manipulations by the current and previous Republican administrations, and the extravagance and greed of Americans — are responsible for the current crisis.

Not Obama, Mr. McSAME!!!

It is my opinion that the only reasons why McCain has survived this far are:

1. The damage Hillary Clinton inflicted on Obama during their brutal primary contest

2. A good chunk of America is still fearful of a black man ruling them, even if he is 50% white and 50% black. As high-octane as Obama is — if he were 100% pure white, McCain would have been dead-meat as early as the first day he became the presumptive nominee of the ReTHUGlican party.

The problem of racism in this election (conveniently camouflaged as cultural differencesby right-wing pundits like Pat Buchanan - a racist “Nazi-Idealogued” white nationalist or the toe-sucking pervert, Fox analyst Dick Morris) looms large over this election — and might just tilt the election in favor of “Dead-Man-Walking” — John McBOMB McCain.

Meanwhile, the criminal cabal of George Bush and Dick Cheney have their guns “fully loaded” in support of John McCain — A fusillade of “500 LB” bombs aimed squarely at Obama.

We will see.

Paul Jenkins Writes:

That Obama is actually able to listen to facts, absorb them and analyze them should be a good thing. We assume that those skills came in handy throughout his life, not least at Harvard, where he graduated near top of his law school class.

This, of course, now makes him an elitist, as he would not be expected by the old DC guard to possess any such competence (charisma perhaps, analytical ability no.)

Both McCain (894th out of 899 at Annapolis) and George W. Bush revel in their under-achieving school days, as if this made these scions of hyper-privilege any closer to real people.

This tactic clearly succeeded well enough for Bush to be elected president twice, and McCain to be nominated once. But there is a sense that American voters may not be taken in again and that they may actually enjoy as president someone who isn’t an inbred moron or a senile fratboy. ….[ MORE >> ]

 Columnist - John Sammon
Columnist - John Sammon. Click to view larger picture. You know what bothers me, apart from the ethics, who’s right and who’s wrong? (America is always right, right or wrong).

America only attacks small, poor countries. Look at the list of our opponents over the past thirty years or so, Vietnam, Granada, Iraq, Afghanistan, The Balkans, Lebanon, and Cuba (oops, we didn’t attack Cuba, we almost did).

Always in the name of freedom.

It makes me yearn for World War Two, the good war, where we fought competent powerful enemies worthy of the name. Now, I know because we’re America we’re always right no matter what. I know we have right on our side in every case. That we’re infallible, incapable of error.

But do we always have to fight countries much smaller than ourselves?

This will get me labeled as unpatriotic, and not one of the my-country-right-or-wrong-God-likes-me-and-not-you crowd. But it makes me uncomfortable that we’re always beating up (in the name of right) on poor small countries, countries whose gross national product is a fraction of our own.

These are people who don’t have refrigerators like we do.

To be invaded by the United States, you have to be small, poor, and have no navy and no air force like we do.

We never take on big countries like China.

Here’s a partial list of countries that because of their size and poverty can consider themselves under risk of attack from Bombs Away John McCain if they don’t conform to the American lifestyle, and fail to provide us with raw materials, or do what we want when we want, or pattern themselves after us, or seek nuclear power (that right is reserved for America and its friends like India).

And most of all, not attack their neighbors. The right to attack is reserved for America. Here’s the list:

Chad – This tiny Central African country, named for a voting stub (chad), would be easy for the United States to defeat. Hell, they don’t have anything except sand and flies. In fact, their chief commodity export are gnats.

Switzerland – If we run out of milk, we know where we can get it (lots of cows). The only problem here are the mountains (we have specialized troops that can climb those), and the sexy blondes in the villages who might prove a distraction. It can be overcome by our modern technology.

Yemen – This is a plumb ready for the taking. Think of it. Oil rich. On the ocean where the Red Sea meets the Arabian Sea. Beautiful waterfront condos overlooking the sea. Prime real estate. No air force to speak of. Navy? Can Arabs sail? Hell no. The only problem is, it’s a republic. That’s okay, we can blame 9-11 on ‘em. Yemen has another advantage. Many different tribes. We can get them to warring with each other.

Djibouti – Another Arab country in the Horn of Africa. Once again, potential oil and ocean views. We could overrun them in three days. It’s a Moslem country so this would figure in with our remaking the Middle East. But the main reason is it would give our hip soldiers (who love slang) the chance to wear tee shirts that say, “you bet Djibouti (your booty).”

Netherlands Antilles – This tiny island off the coast of Venezuela, I can’t think of one good reason to invade. Except maybe, it’s close to South America and would give us more of a presence there. We’ve always tried to boss South America.

This is only a partial list.

There are many more such countries that can be taught freedom.

John McBOMB’s Straight-Talk To Hell!

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

John ‘Bomb Bomb Iran’ McCain and ‘Bent-Talk,’ Lying and Flip-Flopping

McBOMB is mangling things again — Is it lack of knowledge of facts or is he having another ‘Senior Moment’?

On Thursday, he made a very specific measurement as to the extent of troop reductions in Iraq, saying: “I can tell you that it is succeeding.” “I can look you in the eye and tell you it’s succeeding. We have drawn down to pre-surge levels.”

Wrong McBOMB!

The truth is that the troops in Iraq currently number 155,000, well above the pre-surge level of 130,000.

    John McCain’s Straight-Talk Express

McCain refused to burge: “I said we had drawn down,” the Senator declared during a press conference. “I said we have drawn down and we have drawn down three of the five brigades. We have drawn down three of the five brigades. We have drawn down the marines. The rest will be home the end of July. That’s just facts, the facts as I stated them.”

Campaigning in Great Falls, Montana, Obama immediatedly seized on McBOMB’s gaffe, questioning the Republican nominee’s grasp of the situation in Iraq.

Obama said:

“There are honest differences about how to move forward in Iraq, just like there were honest differences about whether or not we should go to war. John McCain was for the invasion of Iraq; I opposed it. John McCain wants to continue George Bush’s war in Iraq indefinitely; I want to end it. So there’s going to be a clear choice for the American people this November.

“But that’s not what John McCain’s been talking about the last few days. He’s been proposing a joint trip to Iraq that’s nothing more than a political stunt. He’s even been using it to raise a few dollars for his campaign. But it seems like Senator McCain’s a lot more interested in my travel plans than the facts, because yesterday – in his continued effort to put the best light on a failed policy – he stood up in Wisconsin and said, “We have drawn down to pre-surge levels” in Iraq.

“That’s not true, and anyone running for Commander-in-Chief should know better. As the saying goes, you’re entitled to your own view, but not your own facts. We’ve got around 150,000 troops in Iraq – 20,000 more than we had before the surge. We have plans to get down to around 140,000 later this summer – that’s still more troops than we had in Iraq before the surge. And today, Senator McCain refused to correct his mistake. Just like George Bush, when he was presented with the truth, he just dug in and refused to admit his mistake. His campaign said it amounts to “nitpicking.”

“Well I don’t think tens of thousands of American troops amounts to nitpicking. Tell that to the young men and women who are serving bravely and brilliantly under our flag. Tell that to the families who have seen their loved ones fight tour after tour after tour of duty in a war that should’ve never been authorized and never been waged.

“It’s time for a debate that’s based on the truth, and I can’t think of anything more important than how many Americans are in harm’s way. It’s time for a debate that’s based on how we’re going to end this war – not a debate that’s based on raising a few dollars for John McCain’s campaign.

“The American people have had enough spin. Just this week, we were reminded by President Bush’s own former spokesman of how it was deception – not straight talk – that misled the American people into war. It’s time to cut through the tough talk so that we can be straight with the American people about a war that’s cost us thousands of lives and hundreds of billions of dollars without making us safer. It’s time to end the political game-playing so that we can finally end this war. That’s what I’ll do in this campaign. And that’s what I’ll do when I’m President of the United States.”
