Sarah Palin — ‘Paling’ around with ‘Confederate Racial Terrorist’ Saxby Chambliss

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Reprehensible Republican chicken hawk Sen. Saxby Chambliss has enlisted Gov. Sarah Palin to rally conservatives (The Bigot Vote) while Democratic challenger Jim Martin is pushing to activate black voters, as they grapple for advantage in a Tuesday(12/02/08) runoff that will shape Democrats’ hold on power in Washington.

Alaska Paper Slams Palin and ‘Georgia Pal’ — Confederate Racist Saxby Chambliss. In an editorial for Anchorage Daily News (Saturday, Nov. 29), Matt Zencey wrote:

Gov. Sarah Palin is putting her conservative Republican fame to work in Georgia, stumping for Republican U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss, who is in a tough runoff for re-election.

I wonder if she knows the true measure of the man she is eagerly helping.

Chambliss was elected to the Senate in 2002 by running one of the most reprehensible campaigns of modern times. He was up against incumbent Democrat Sen. Max Cleland, a Vietnam War veteran who lost both legs and his right arm to a grenade during that conflict.

Chambliss avoided serving in Vietnam. He got four student draft deferments, and when his number finally came up, he was medically disqualified with knee troubles.

In the best Karl Rove fashion, Chambliss the draft-evader attacked Cleland the war hero for being soft on terrorism. Distorting Cleland’s votes about workplace rules for the new Homeland Security Department employees, Chambliss portrayed him as a tool of terrorists like Osama bin Laden.

Here’s how the Almanac of American Politics (2006) described it:

‘Chambliss ran an ad, much attacked in the press, showing pictures of Osama Bin Laden, Saddam Hussein and Max Cleland, and saying that Cleland ‘voted against the President’s vital homeland security efforts 11 times.” (Those ‘vital homeland security efforts’ Cleland opposed were intended to strip homeland security employees of union rights and other workplace protections.)

One of Chambliss’ Ads against Cleland

The man who couldn’t bring himself to serve in the military said a man who left three limbs behind in war was a weakling who would turn the country over to terrorists.

Chambliss was a congressman during the 9-11 attacks. Congressional Quarterly’s ‘Politics in America 2006‘ noted that Congressman Chambliss ‘quipped that one route to security would be for local sheriffs to ‘arrest every Muslim that comes across the state line.’

So there you have the fine American that Palin is trying to re-elect to the U.S. Senate.

Gov. Palin’s eldest joined the Army and has been deployed to Iraq. As a justifiably proud military mom, she might ask herself why she is using her conservative star power to support such a reprehensible Republican chicken hawk.

Trainwreck: The End of the Conservative Revolution (and Not a Moment Too Soon)Trainwreck: The End of the Conservative Revolution (and Not a Moment Too Soon):

From Publishers Weekly: In a domestic cooptation of the neocon End of History thesis, talk radio host Press (Spin This!) argues that conservatism’s record of failure should condemn it to a subordinate place in American politics–it can survive to check the excess of the majority, argues Press, but must never again be allowed to govern. For Press (who unfurls a dishonor roll of scandals, policy failures, corporate toadying, double standards and outright criminality), this betrayal of public trust has meant the betrayal of conservatism’s own purported principles. Thus, citing the conservative canon of the mid-century right-wing intellectual Russell Kirk, and even Barry Goldwater, Press lambastes Bush, Cheney and other Republicans for turning away from the ideals of small government and limited executive power. Likewise, on the environment, conservatism was formerly synonymous with conservation, notes Press, pointing to early Republican leadership on this score from Teddy Roosevelt to California state senator and environmental pioneer Peter Behr. These contradictions rarely come as revelations–indeed the bulk of this narrative will be familiar to anyone paying even passing attention to the news–but by presenting all this material together, Press creates a serviceable election-year handbook for voters, particularly the Democratic opposition. Two Dangerous Men – McCain and Bush

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

By Bob Miller

Passing on the torch for Republican ledershipIt is most appropriate that George W. Bush and John McCain are meeting behind closed doors because that’s where the two Bush terms were won. But we must remember not to attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity.

The good news is, what these two lack in leadership and integrity is made up for in arrogance and pig-headedness.

For those of you who found it incomprehensible that McCain voted against helping our troops, saying he didn’t want to be too generous, it’s really very simple. Some might even call it a sad story. While I was a patient at the Veterans Affairs hospital in Phoenix, Arizona, Senator McCain explained to me that the source of my anger was being abandoned by my fellow Americans after being shot down twice in Vietnam (quite a revelation). That he, too, was still mad as hell at Americans for leaving him to rot in a POW camp for years while they listened to psychedelic music, wore flowers in their hair, and partied (Guess I’m a hippie at heart because I thought these people were really neat. Love, not war, is a pretty good mindset in my opinion).

I listened in disbelief as McCain informed me that he had to choose between dying or talking; and since Americans didn’t give a damn about him, he didn’t give a damn about them. He even confessed rather boldly being nicknamed “Songbird” by his fellow POWs because of his willingness to tell his captors even more than they asked for. This is a flagrant violation of Article III of the United States Code of Military Conduct which states, If I am captured, I will continue to resist by all means available. I will make every effort to escape and to aid others to escape. I will accept neither parole nor special favors from the enemy.

While it was a difficult moment for me, I was pleased McCain had, unlike me, gotten it together after returning home. Frankly, I didn’t believe the “Songbird” story until many years later when I heard esteemed author Gore Vidal allude to it. In 2003 I started promoting McCain for president. But I was wrong; this guy is still filled with hate, and it’s not the Iraqis, Iranians or North Koreans he hates.

Bush and McCain

To all who want to follow this bitter old man McCain into WWIII, you just might want to reflect on the fact that he didn’t do very well as a warrior. He lost his aircraft, got captured, and then failed miserably to comply with Article III of the United States Code of Military Conduct, which is a court marshal offense. I suggest that Democrats remember what these cold blooded neo-conservatives did to Max Cleland, John Kerry, and tried to do to John Murtha. I believe it’s time they harvested this crop of thorns they have so mercilessly sown. I don’t know what you are going to do, but I’m going to feed this bunch who have disgraced our country and devalued our dollar some of their own medicine; and I’m not going to use a spoon, I’m going to use a shovel.

Bob Miller: ‘McCain will sell our country to the highest bidder!’

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Bob Miller (A Registered Republican) Asks: ‘Democrats…Learned Anything in the Last 8 Years?’

Mentioning John McCain and war hero in the same sentence is an oxymoron.

Since I was shot down twice in Vietnam, I did at one time respect McCain until I started checking with those who spent time with him in North Vietnam.

His nickname was “Songbird.”

McCain didn’t volunteer to be a POW and he didn’t begin to comply with Article III of the United States Code of Conduct after being captured. What he did do was sing like a songbird and whine day and night about being abandoned. This old guy is not bitter at the North Vietnamese, he’s mad as hell at Americans for leaving him in the POW camp for five years while they listened to psychedelic music, wore flowers in their hair, and partied. McCain, like his mentor Bush, will sell our country to the highest bidder, and that bidder will be the United Arab Emirates.

I’m a registered Republican.

I ran for a seat in the US Senate in 1992. I’ve been campaigning against the George H.W. Bush gang since 1976, and I know what I’m talking about. Neither Messrs. Gore nor Kerry would listen. They said that George W. Bush was a nice guy while knowing all the time he was a habitual lying, bowlegged moron. Click PIC For Larger ImageI told Mr. Kerry three days before the election that he was going to lose because he had not gone for the jugular. He not only let Bush push him around, he brushed off the Swift Boat puppets as if their painting him a coward wouldn’t matter to voters…the same voters Bush and Cheney had been reading Chicken Little to day and night since 1999.

Democrats had better remember what these demons from hell did to Max Cleland and tried to do to John Murtha.

God and country means nothing to these warmongering sociopaths in the Republican Party.

They would sponsor Robert Mugabe if they thought he could win the Oval Office. Their reason has nothing to do with building a country that can legitimately claim “we hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.” Equality is not on their to-do list. I’ve witnessed first hand the George H.W. Bush list that he compiled in 1976 after being appointed the Director of the CIA. It was a short list, but one that has not only turned this country, but the world every which way but loose.

1. Control of the US media.

2. Control of the US Supreme Court and federal judges.

3. Give US Treasury ATM cards to family and corporate sponsors.

Democrats have two choices.

One: You can go on the offense and paint McCain as a dangerous hotheaded old fool who’s eaten up with PTSD and will push the world into WWIII.

Two: You can play fair as Gore and Kerry tried to do and this bunch of ungodly self-serving leeches will wipe their feet on Mr. Barack Obama and his family, destroying possibly our country’s last chance to come out of this death spiral.
