Michele Bachmann’s victory in the Iowa Ames Straw poll, has already prompted Tim Pawlenty to drop out of the presidential race. The feeble showings of Newt Gingrich and John Huntsman have rendered them dead men walking.
But the politician who was hurt the most by Bachmann’s victory is Sarah Palin, there is room for only one crazy female Tea Party candidate. The congresswoman from Minnesota has proven that she has the intellect and the organizational skills to run a credible presidential campaign.
The only thing that Sarah Palin has proven is that she has an uncanny ability to stay in the headlines. Of course the former half-term governor of Alaska crashed the Iowa state fair to steal the attention away from the announced GOP candidates.
Palin’s long strip-tease act has gone on far too long, only the former beauty queen’s diehard supporters are still enthralled by her antics. Palin’s “will she or won’t she” act may be great for keeping her brand alive, but it has destroyed her credibility as a serious politician.
Bachmann’s Tea Party ideology is anathema to me, but I commend her for driving the stake into Palin’s presidential aspirations.
Coleman suffers setback in court — State Supreme Court decision keeps disputed ballots in the vote count for now, but Coleman’s lawyers are vowing to press on.
StarTribune: A state Supreme Court ruling Wednesday narrowed the options available for Sen. Norm Coleman to erase a slim lead held by DFLer Al Franken in the Minnesota election dispute, and Coleman’s campaign threatened a court battle that could leave the Senate seat vacant for a month.
The Supreme Court denied a bid by the Coleman campaign to prevent local and state canvassing boards from tallying votes that the incumbent says may have been counted twice. Most of the votes at issue are from DFL strongholds.
The justices said the campaign’s claim of double-counted ballots is better resolved in a court hearing where evidence can be presented, instead of by canvassing boards.

One big factor for Mr. Coleman’s problems is the bigoted debate over immigration that he and numerous other Republican congressmen “held so dear” in 2006.
The most rotten of them all was — The King of Anti-Immigrant Xenophobia — Colorado Rep. Tom Tancredo, who based his long-shot presidential campaign on shrill and maniacal opposition to all forms of immigration.
Tancredo tried to cut off services to illegal immigrants in Colorado, and to tax the money immigrants send home to their families.
He called the racist PUNKS(The Minuteman), patrolling the Mexican border — HEROES!. Even the pathetic Bush, a Republican, had the sense to call them VIGILANTES, — Heavily armed CHRISTIAN HANGMEN, willing to LYNCH Willy-Nilly, “TO PROTECT THE HOMELAND,” …..aided and abetted by Bush’s HOMELANDSECURITY apparatus.
For historical purposes — this HOMELAND was stolen from the indigenous population inhabiting America before murderous Europeans landed here and butchered them into oblivion. The arrival of Columbus (THE FIRST ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT) in 1492 was a disaster for the original inhabitants of the American continent. Columbus brought with him European diseases, and with no resistance to new germs, tribes rapidly succumbed to unfamiliar illnesses on their first brief contact with the Europeans – in many cases vastly reducing the number of the Americans without anyone even firing a shot.
Where the tribes developed a closer relationship with the new arrivals, they were frequently tricked, tormented and massacred by their visitors. Two elements made the Europeans both strong and ruthless – their possession of guns, and an unshakable conviction in the rightness of their CHRISTIAN cause. And, that’s exactly what is itching the Minutemen and their racist sympathizers. They are CHRISTIAN GUN-OWNERS — KILLERS, who like Columbus and his diseased entourage, would really love to have ALL IMMIGRANTS hanged, and for good measure, the same done to “ALL NIGGERS!”
Millions of immigrants, especially Latino’s, have been deeply offended by the VILE and RACIST rhetoric by Republicans and their right-wing media accomplices, and it is very evident that they have made these bastard bigots pay at the polls — from the Democratic gains in 2006, ……to Obama’s landslide.
Latino and immigrant loyalties have shifted, and I think permanently, to the Democratic party, with Obama at the helm.
Norm Coleman is just a cog in a wheel that has undergone a thorough dis-mantling this election season……and I hope he sinks into the DEEPEST HOLE in COLD Minnesota.

Republicans on Immigration: The War Within — The claim of some Republican apologists that the party is “against illegal immigration, but for legal immigration” does not accurately represent the whole party. There are at least four identifiable factions within the GOP. They are, in the order of permissiveness to immigration:

That’s what John McCain told a supporter at a rally in Minnesota where right wing nuts were calling for Obama’s head on a platter.
Lakeville Minnesota has always been a center of higher learning. The late Johnny Carson did his character Floyd R. Turbo, the ignorant racist duck hunter whose political views were to the right of Genghis Kahn, based on some of the people of Lakeville.
This was a high point of the entire election campaign.
Respectful ferocity?
A supporter, a woman, said Obama is an ‘Arab.’
To his credit, McCain disagreed that Obama is an Arab.
Here is a partial list of epithets Obama was called at the rally. Pervert, socialist, communist, asshole, frekazoid, mother..fuc.’er, traitor, dip-shit, jungle bunny, communist queer coon, Obie the monkey, darkee, and Senator Jerk Off.
Here’s how McCain responds to each one.
‘You can call him a pervert, but we should respect differences in sexual orientation.’
‘You can call him a socialist, but I think he’s a decent sort of fellow. For a black man.’
‘You can call him an asshole, but I don’t think you should do it when I’m around.’
‘Let’s hang him!’ Members of the crowd chant. ‘Lynch the communist nigger!’
McCain calls for calm. ‘You don’t have to lessen the intensity of your feelings. But I don’t think we should hang him.’
‘He’s a member of a mud race,’ another supporter calls.
‘Please,’ McCain chides. ‘How can a person be made of mud? Now, I know you all are patriots, but let’s channel our energy in a more positive light.’
The crowd boos McCain.
‘Wait a minute!’ McCain calls. ‘I just think that words like darkee, and communist, and Arab and traitor, and Senator Jerk Off, while there may be some validity to them. Well, I think some of them may be counter-productive. That’s all.’
The crowd hisses.
A woman screams, ‘that no-good sonofabitch (Obama) wants to teach my three-year-old daughter sex education.’
‘You see! You see!’ McCain happily calls. ‘There we go. We should focus on the issues like that rather than on personality things. I mean, calling Obama a jungle bunny. I know that your anger is there because you disagree with Mister Obama and his policies that he has proposed. I know that you feel let down by things that are happening. But we need to get our message out in a way that resonates with voters. I wouldn’t call Mister Obama a jungle bunny. I would refer to him as a LIBERAL NEGRO.’
As the Bigot-Party prepares to descend on Minnesota for the Republican convention, I can’t help but recall the right-wing nutbag Stuart Shepard of “Focus on the Family Action” starring in a video that asked Christians to pray for “rain of biblical proportions,” during Barack Obama’s nomination-acceptance speech. He asked God for “abundant and torrential rain” that would create flash flood warnings and “swamp the intersections..” Shepard said he hoped the rain would start “two minutes before the acceptance speech begins.”
What a colossal waste of GOD’s time!
Well, that never happened and last Thursday Obama delivered yet another masterful speech which was applauded exuberantly by the left and grudgingly by right, and Hurricane Gustav(with speculation that two other hurricanes are right behind Gustav) appears to be on target to mess up the GOP convention — a gathering of Stuart Shepard’s Grand Old party of GOD!
Even “toe-sucking” Dick Morris loved it. “A master was at work last night. A politician who can inspire hope filled in the blanks of his program and articulated his vision with skill and panache,” said Dick Morris, a former Clinton advisor, now a wicked and rascally prime-time analyst for the “snake-pit” news channel — Fox News.
In 2004, when the Republicans couldn’t field a viable candidate (Republican Party challenger, Jack Ryan, was discovered to be a sexual pervert) to run against Barack Obama, they searched all over the United States — all they way to Maryland, where they found Alan Keyes, a “perennial presidential candidate,” and a black ReTHUGliTOM in the Clarence Thomas mold — an Uncle-Tom of “mental illness” proportions.

Obama slaughtered him in the election, winning the Senate race to become 5th black U.S. senator in history. Keyes, in a combative speech that Tuesday night, quoted heavily from the Bible, but stopped short of conceding the race, vowing to fight what he called the corrupt politicians of Illinois.
“We are called to go into the ditch, and though we must wade knee-deep in muck we will come out the other side,” said Keyes. “This shall be our cause!” ……whatever that means!
This election cycle, McCain the Republican seems to be doing something similar.
After rejecting a congregation of flawed potential VP partners, he went looking — and snagged the “moose-eating” twenty month governor of Alaska, a former mayor of Wasilla, Alaska (Population 7,738 [2004 Estimate]), husbanded by a career fisherman, Todd Palin.
This condescending and laughable grab for ‘Hillary Voters,‘ will work with the far-right GOP females, who have been luke-warm towards McCain, for not being extremist enough, and some stupid, un-principled “Low Information” Hillary-Voters, but to the die-hard well-informed — angry or not, I think this is a major slap in the face.
Poor John McCain actually believes there’s a large army of bitter Hillary voters who will vote for a right-wing female NUT simply because she’s a woman.
Not only is McCain’s theory ludicrous, but it is every bit as sexist as can be.
Are Democratic women voters that stupid, as to not care about the issues Hillary Clinton stood for?
Yes, some are, especially those turned off by the color of Obama’s skin, but for the majority — I don’t think so.
