From Media Matters: Rush Limbaugh claimed during his February 27 morning radio update that “[t]he Obama budget … funds the relentless drive toward socialized medicine” — a statement that is neither accurate nor original. In fact, as the Urban Institute wrote in an April 2008 analysis, “socialized medicine involves government financing and direct provision of health care services,” and therefore, progressive health-care reform proposals do not “fit this description.” The analysis also noted: “Similar rhetoric was used to defeat national health care reform proposals in the 1990s and, with less success, to argue against the creation of Medicare in the 1960s.” Indeed, a Media Matters for America analysis found that dating as far back as the 1930s — with respect to at least 16 different reform initiatives — conservatives have attempted to smear those proposals by calling them “socialized medicine” or a step toward that inevitable result.

In the past month, CNBC Mad Money host Jim Cramer has repeatedly characterized President Obama and congressional Democrats as Russian communists intent on “rampant wealth destruction.” Specifically, Cramer has referred to Obama as a “Bolshevik” and said he is “taking cues from Lenin.” Cramer has also used terms such as “Marx,” “comrades,” “Soviet,” “Winter Palace,” and “Politburo” in reference to Democrats and questioned whether House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is the “general secretary of the Communist Party.”
On the March 4 edition of CNN’s Lou Dobbs Tonight, host Lou Dobbs claimed that “President Obama’s honeymoon with Americans on the economy appears to be at an end; the president failing to win broad support for his economic policies, despite his personal popularity.” Dobbs continued: “The latest Wall Street Journal/NBC poll showing only 54 percent of Americans say the president has the right goals and policies for this country.” However, contrary to Dobbs’ assertion that the February WSJ/NBC News poll shows that Obama’s “honeymoon with Americans on the economy appears to be at an end,” the survey results for the same question from the January and December polls are nearly identical.
FOX’s objective in this presidential race has been painfully clear to us for a while. They have been carpet bombing Barack Obama with negative stories, distortions, and smears in the run up to tomorrow’s Pennsylvania primary in an attempt to skew the outcome. But how could FOX have guessed that the "liberal" media would be such willing accomplices?
