Bigoted Ignorance: Fox’s Sick Sleazebag, Glenn Beck — Slammed For Comparing ‘Reform Judaism’ To ‘Radical Islam’

Tags: , , , , , , ,

MediaMatters: Writing for conservative Commentary magazine, Peter Wehner issues a stern warning about Glenn Beck — “Glenn Beck has become the most disturbing personality on cable television,” “One cannot watch him for any length of time without being struck by his affinity for conspiracies and for portraying himself as the great decoder of events.”

“The danger when one paints the world in such conspiratorial terms is that it devalues the rational side of politics. It encourages a cast of mind that looks to expose enemies rather than to engage in arguments. Few things, after all, are as they appear,” says Wehner. “Beyond that, of course, is the sense of impending doom, of the coming Apocalypse, of our world being on the edge of calamity. If taken seriously, this has the effect of creating fear, hopelessness, and feelings of helplessness.”

Religious Battles in the Balkans

Tags: , , , , , , , , ,

By: Risto Karajkov

Recently, after a period of prolonged strife within the Islamic Religious Community (IVZ), its leader Sulejman Rexhepi publicly asked the government of Macedonia and representatives of the international community for protection from radical Islamic groups. He called in particular on the “embassy of the United States and the European Union to support the IVZ and take appropriate measures” against such groups. Rexhepi’s public cry for help echoed internationally. It was interpreted as one more sign of the rising influence of radical Islam in the Balkans.

Pressure within the IVZ has been mounting all summer. Rumors, hushed and denied, have gone on for years that the IVZ does not have effective control of all of its mosques in the capital city of Skopje, Macedonia. Late June, the Friday prayer at the Isa Beg Mosque was violently interrupted. A group of people, reportedly led by Ramadan Ramadani, attacked and chased away the Skopje mufti, Ibraim Shabani, and several other IVZ officials, preventing them from conducting the prayer. Only several days before the incident, Ramadani was revoked from his position of odza in the Isa Beg Mosque by IVZ on charges of organizing unauthorized lectures. IVZ said Ramadani was revoked after repeated warnings.

The public learned of the incident only a week later, after a tape was presented by the Democratic Party of the Albanians (DPA), one of the two major parties in the Albanian political block, currently in opposition. DPA accused its political opponent, the Democratic Union for Integration (DUI), part of the government coalition, of involvement in the incident.

The incident forced the IVZ, after practically years of denial, to admit that it does not have effective control over some of its mosques in Skopje. It also made it point a finger at “radical groups” that want to take control over the Islamic community in the country. The mosques most often mentioned as outside IVZ control are the Isa Beg, Aladza, Sultan Murat and Hatandzuk.

The dismissed Ramadani has denied accusations of spreading radicalism and has also disputed IVZ’s decision for his removal. “The decision is not valid. This is a first in IVZ’s history that someone is dismissed in such a non-transparent way,” said Ramadani. He argued that IVZ did not have a quorum when it made the decision. He accused the IVZ leader Sulejman Rexhepi of serious financial wrongdoings and said the rhetoric of radicalism was just an excuse. Ramadani started collecting signatures for the removal of Rexhepi from his position as leader of IVZ. He put on hold his initiative mid-August as Ramadan started, but was reported to have collected some 7,000 signatures.

Ramadani’s civic initiative cannot replace the chief mufti Rexhepi?the IVZ leader can only be revoked by the Riaset, the IVZ top body?but if the number of 7,000 signatures is accurate, it indicates a significant following.

After the June incident at the Isa Beg Mosque, IVZ asked the Ministry of Interior (MoI) for protection, that is, to help it restore its control over the mosque. The police said they can only intervene if ordered to by the court. Apparently, in legal terms, the administration of the mosque is a civil matter and the police cannot intervene without a court order (the violent incident is a separate matter and can be a simple misdemeanor). “The moment we are ordered by the court, we will intervene” said MoI spokesperson Ivo Kotevski. The ministry said its hands were tied also concerning the allegations of spreading radical teaching of Islam. As long as there is no direct incitement of racial or ethnic hatred, or direct calls for subversion of institutions of government, the police cannot intervene, was the reaction of the MoI.

Insiders explain the police’s inertia with the political interests involved. According to them, the two major Albanian political parties, DUI and DPA, are not without a stake in the entire affair. Also, according to some of those interpretations, the accusations of radical teachings are just the front for internal struggles over power and control within IVZ. Several years ago there was an even more serious, armed incident, involving known criminals, in a mosque in the village of Kondovo, apparently over who would have control over the mosque.

Institutions’ inertia can easily be explained with political backing in a country such as Macedonia. But it would be completely improbable to think that a major Albanian political party would in any way be supportive of radical Islamic elements. Politics is strongly secular in Macedonia. In addition, Albanian politicians would know better than to risk the support by the international community.

However, elements exist in support of IVZ’s claims over the spread of radical teaching. Citing the unauthorized lectures as the grounds for his dismissal, the Skopje mufti, Ibraim Shabani, in particular objected to the lectures by a local Islamic scholar, Bekir Halimi. In July, after the incident, IVZ directly brought Halimi’s name in connection with the spreading of Wahabism. Two years ago the police raided the premises of Halimi’s association called Bamsiera on suspicion of links with radical groups in the region and internationally. The suspicion was apparently caused by a small money transfers by an organization from Kuwait. Halimi was however neither detained nor charged. Some media subsequently reported the case as a mistake. Halimi himself has denied allegations of spreading radical ideas in the past. He has claimed that the local Muslim tradition is “immune to such influences” and that local priests know how to protect the believers. Ramadani, for his part, justified Halimi’s unauthorized lectures arguing that he was a recognized scholar and that it was a privilege to have him speak.

There have been no public reactions following the IVZ’s leader call upon Europe and the United States to defend moderate Islam in the country. However, after years of rumors and denials, the clash is now out in the open. Further unraveling seems imminent.

Ann ‘Bony Ass’ Coulter and ‘Gestapo’ Andrew ‘Bratwurst’ Breitbart Revive Obama ‘MADRASSA’ Lie

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Appearing with Coulter on the Glenn Beck Show and the ‘O’Garbage Factor‘, “Gestapo” Andrew “Bratwurst” Breitbart claimed that Obama, MoveOn working “in coordination” with CAIR to “keep America NOT SAFE from radical Islam,” and Coulter falsely insinuated that president Obama studied at madrassas — old tired GOP crap.

Web User The_Cat comments on (December 31, 2009 11:07 am ET)

Trying to keep America ‘not safe‘, Mr. Breitbart? Brilliantly put.

Since you yourself raise the point that the Department of Homeland Security did in fact release a report that right wing terrorists were a source of concern, I have a question or two.

When was the last time a liberal bombed a building, as Timothy McVeigh did?

When was the last time a liberal assassinated someone, as Dr. Tiller was assassinated?

Where is your proof that the President, MoveOn, and CAIR are working in concert to prevent American safety?

How is it that, now that there is a Democrat in the White House, death threats against the holder of that office have risen 300%? Do you think it is liberals who make those threats?

I don’t remember Sarah Palin’s rolodex ever being mentioned, so this is likely just spurious partisan hackery on your part. I must admit I’m hardly surprised by the idea.

But it is mildly humorous how, during the Bush Administration they were called “foiled attacks” and now that Obama is in office, suddenly they are “attempted attacks.” That’s expedient language if ever I heard it.

By the way, Mr. Breitbart, where is the unedited video from the Pimp & Ho show? Or, is it no longer relevant now that ACORN has been cleared of any illegal activity, and the only ones still under legal scrutiny are the Pimp & Ho themselves? That circus of yours trying to quietly fold up it’s tent and slip out of town under cover of darkness?

Notes From MediaMatters: Andrew Breitbart, the Matt Drudge protégé and “Internet entrepreneur” behind BigGoverment.com, BigHollywood.com, and Breitbart.tv — with other sites in the works — is trying to position himself as the avant-garde leader of conservative media. In reality, Breitbart is nothing new. He’s merely the latest right-wing activist to digitize the conservative media machine that has held such sway in America for decades. As such, his work contributes not to the evolution of journalism, but to its dissolution. [ READ MORE ]

U.S. Policy Cannot Bring Peace to the Middle East; Obama Should Change It

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

If Barack Obama truly wants to bring peace to the Middle East, he must not only stop Israel from putting Jewish settlements on Palestinian lands, he must actually get them to give up most of the lands they have already taken. This will be a monumental task. Further, while talking about change in other aspects of American policy, Obama has fundamentally endorsed the failed Middle East policy of the last 40 years.

By Robert N. Taylor

There were a lot of upset people recently when the number two man in the radical Islamic and terrorist group Al Qaeda accused President-elect Barack Obama of being a ‘house Negro‘ for supporting the extremely pro-Israel U.S. policy in the Middle East. By borrowing a phrase made popular by 1960s militant Malcolm X, Ayman al-Zawahiri was essentially accusing Obama of being a Black man who carries out the will of the white man.

Al-Zawahiri obviously does not have a clear understanding of U.S. history. Nevertheless, his verbal blast against Obama does bring to light a key point: For roughly 40 years, various Washington administrations have supposedly been trying to bring peace to the Middle East and we are no closer to peace today than we were 40 years ago.

Why?

First of all, U.S. ‘peace‘ efforts have been so one-sidedly pro-Israel that the vast majority of Palestinians and Arabs find them insulting and degrading. The U.S. has never been an honest peace broker in the Middle East. Instead, it has basically pursued policies primarily aimed at ensuring Israeli military dominance in the region.

Secondly, U.S. policy has always attempted to elevate a secondary problem to primary status and thus avoid addressing the fundamental issue causing instability and violence between the Israelis and the Palestinians. Essentially, Israel and the U.S. (aided by a pro-Israel American media) have successfully but falsely portrayed the fundamental problem in the Middle East as terrorism — Palestinian violence against Israel.

US Mideast Policy - Israel Lobby

But this is not true. The fundamental source of instability in the Middle East is Israel’s continuing occupation of Palestinian lands. Not only does Israel occupy the lands of Palestinians, it brazenly places Jewish settlements on the land. It is when the Palestinians continually see their homes destroyed and they lands occupied that they turn to acts of violence which we label terrorism.

However, if he does not undertake the task of true change, he will indeed be doing little more than carrying out the will of the neo-conservative white men who have dominated U.S. Middle East policy for the last 40 years. It is a policy which is fundamentally unjust, unfair, racist and cannot possibly lead to peace.

Anti-Obama Right-Wing Bigot Jerome Corsi Deported From Kenya

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

This piece of garbage had the gal to go to Kenya to promote his lies, bigotry and Republican swift-boat racism!! Jinga Huyu! — A few lashes at Kamiti Maximum Prison would have been very appropriate. After all that’s what his cousins, the despicable colonial Brits used to do to Kenyans before the country achieved independence in the early sixties.

He went to Kenya to discredit Barack Obama and to sell a book full of garbage and bigoted innuendo, but was kicked out of the country Tuesday night.

Immigration officer Dume Wanda (right) leads Dr Jerome Corsi, the WorldNetDaily writer and author of The Obama Nation, to a waiting security vehicle at Laico Regency hotel, on Tuesday.Immigration officer Dume Wanda (right) leads Dr Jerome Corsi, the WorldNetDaily writer and author of The Obama Nation, to a waiting security vehicle at Laico Regency hotel, on Tuesday.

Jerome Corsi was arrested shortly after 8a.m. just as he was about to address a news conference to launch his anti-Obama book in Nairobi.

He was taken to the Immigration headquarters at Nyayo House and later deported on the British Airways midnight flight out of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

Dr Corsi, author of The Obama Nation: Leftist Politics and the Cult of Personality, which has been heavily criticised worldwide for its inaccuracies, came to Kenya more than a week ago, and had been staying with friends in Runda.

Radical Islam

He was due to launch the book, which depicts Mr Obama, whose father was Kenyan, as a sympathizer of radical Islam and communism, at the Laico Regency Hotel.

But he was arrested there before he could speak and driven with an assistant, Mr Timothy M. Bueler, to Nyayo House, around 500 metres away.

The Immigration officials also impounded copies of the Obama book.

Jerome Corsi's Book -- Unfit For PublicationAt Nyayo House, the two were held for four hours and questioned by officials led by the Director of Immigration, Mr Albert Musasia, about his presence in Kenya.

The decision to deport him was made after it emerged that Dr Corsi and Mr Bueler had entered the country as tourists, stating they intended to visit game parks.

The book launch was a commercial venture, therefore, they had contravened their immigration status.

After questioning, the two were taken to the office of the Permanent Secretary, Mr Emmanuel Kisombe, and from there through the basement to a car in which they were driven to the house where Dr Corsi had been staying in Runda for verification of his passport and visa before they were escorted to the airport.

There he and his aide were held in the Immigration office to await their flight out of the country.

A US embassy official said they were not told officially about the arrests, saying they had learnt about them from the media.

The official said Dr Corsi’s was a private individual’s visit and did not warrant comment from the embassy since he was not a US government official.

Questioned

Police spokesman Eric Kiraithe commented later that the two US citizens were summoned by the Immigration department to be questioned on the status of their stay in the country.

He also said that they had chosen to fly out of the country voluntarily after being questioned.

Dr Corsi flew into Kenya last Tuesday and was booked to stay at the Laico Regency (formerly Grand Regency) at 7.55am, although hotel communications manager Jenifer Wanza said he had been staying in Runda.

Dr Corsi was expected to stay at the hotel for one month.

General manager Solomon Adede later issued a statement distancing the hotel from the planned news conference, scheduled to take place at the Bogoria room.

He said the management would not allow such a function, and added: ‘Laico Regency is a law-abiding institution and does not condone any smear campaigns.

He said the booking for the Press conference had been made by Mr Peter Mbae, editor-in-chief of The Eagle Christian magazine.

NTV Kenya — Obama smear author deported

Mr Mbae founded the newspaper and has played an active role in religious organisations. Posters that were announcing the news conference were quickly pulled down at the hotel.

Kenya features prominently in Dr Corsi’s book, The Obama Nation, which has been seen primarily as a vehicle to run a smear campaign against Mr Obama.

Dr Corsi states early in the book that Kenya will play a key part in his account because ‘Barack Obama himself tells us that Kenya is an important part of who he is, even today.’

But the book has been widely criticised for containing many inaccuracies and distortions.

When it was released, Obama spokesman Tommy Vietor said: ‘Jerome Corsi is a discredited liar who is peddling another piece of garbage to continue the Bush-Cheney politics he helped perpetuate four years ago.

Similar attacks were published about former presidents Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton during their campaigns to reach the White House.

Perhaps significantly both went on to win the presidency.

Dr Corsi, a well-known right-wing author, used Prime Minister Raila Odinga as a means of attacking Mr Obama on the two fronts of radical Islam and communism.

The Prime Minister, portrayed as a close associate of Mr Obama, is described as ‘a Muslim sympathizer with well-known communist political roots.”

Obama’s father

The book suggests that Mr Odinga might be a Muslim, even though, as it admits, he ‘today professes to be an Anglican.

The book also attacks Obama’s father Mr Barack Obama Snr, who came from Siaya in Nyanza Province and who died in 1982, referring to him as ‘an alcoholic polygamist‘ and a Muslim who gravitated to the ‘more extreme communist position openly advocated by and identified with Oginga Odinga.

The book distorts Mr Obama’s political views and associations — often by means of inaccuracies — in an attempt to destroy his image as a new-style politician able to bridge cultural, racial and ideological divides.
