The president was right when he called the arrest stupid. It doesn’t mean Crowley is stupid. It means that, in that moment, he made a stupid choice. Barack Obama has made some stupid choices on occasion too. We all do. Everyone who is defending Crowley’s arrest, including his union, needs to re-read his report. There is a crime described in there. In fact, Sergeant Crowley’s report is a written confession of the crime of false arrest. | Page 2 of Report | Page 3 of Report |
Lawrence O’Donnell, Jr. wrote a lovely opinion piece for Time.com. here are excerpts:
There is no crime described in Crowley’s official version of the way Gates behaved. Crowley says explicitly that he arrested Gates for yelling. Nothing else, not a single threatening movement, just yelling. On the steps of his own home. Yelling is not a crime. Yelling does not meet the definition of disorderly conduct in Massachusetts. Not a single shouted word or action that Crowley has attributed to Gates amounts to disorderly conduct. That is why the charges had to be dropped.
In classically phony police talk, Crowley refers to “[Gates'] continued tumultuous behavior.” When cops write that way, you know they have nothing. What is tumultuous behavior? Here’s what it isn’t: he brandished a knife in a threatening manner, he punched and kicked, he clenched his fist in a threatening manner, he threw a wrench or, in the Gates house, maybe a book. If the subject does any of those things, cops always write it out with precision. When they’ve got nothing, they use phrases that mean nothing. Phrases like tumultuous behavior.
As I mentioned in a previous post, this was a case a STUPID cop (I wonder what the heck this moron was teaching in his anti-racial profiling class) flexing his muscles — to teach an UPPITY and HIGHLY EDUCATED NIGGER A LESSON!
“We learned last night that he did, President Obama did listen to Reverend Wright all those years,” Limbaugh said in a Fox News interview, referring to Obama’s controversial former pastor. “He’s angry at this country, he’s not proud of it.”
“Let’s face it, President Obama is black and I think he’s got a chip on his shoulder,” Limbaugh continued.
The McCain-Palin HATE MEETINGS are affecting Obama supporters worldwide — In a London street, a man wearing an Obama T-shirt was shot three times. Dube Egwuatu was shot three times in street by racist gunman. Mr Egwuatu, a data analyst with Croydon Council, said: “The venom in his attackers voice was frightening.” McCain and his side-kick Sarah Palin, are a sick, racist, divisive and deluded monster couple, unfit to lead a country struggling to dump it’s sordid racial past!. Republican racist bigots realizing that Obama is for real, are in frenzied panic. Barack Obama has momentum and John McCain cannot stop the Obama train. The McCain-Palin Ticket is in Racist ‘Kamikaze’ Mode.
And, it has spread all the way to “Cousin-Land,” Great Britain ….in London, where Dube Egwuatu was shot three times in street by racist gunman – for wearing a Barack Obama T-shirt. Mr Egwuatu, a data analyst with Croydon Council, said: “The venom in his attackers voice was frightening.”
After two debates, McCain has nothing to offer but FEAR and RACIST INNUENDO.
First it was Sarah Palin, McCain’s sidekick barracuda, now he has thrown all he has left into the mix — his “Beer Inheritance,” Cindy McCain.
Invoking son’s military service, Cindy McCain said: “The day that Sen. Obama cast a vote to not to fund my son when he was serving sent a cold chill through my body let me tell you,” Cindy McCain said in introducing the GOP ticket. “I would suggest Sen. Obama change shoes with me for just one day. I suggest he take a day and go watch our men and women deploying.” READ: OBAMA IS UN-PATRIOTIC, YELLOW and DOES NOT BELONG
A couple of days ago Sarah Palin accused Obama of “Paling With Terrorists,” … in reference to Obama’s association with fellow Chicagoan, Bill Ayers, a reformed 1960′s anti-war radical, who is currently leading a productive life as a professor at the University of Illinois.
Ayers was protesting the VietNam War — another illegal war America lost, during which, just like in Iraq, U.S. military personnel often went on civilian LYNCHING rampages.
The spectacle of John McCain’s Town Hall campaign meetings reminds me of a Saturday Evening Lynching Meet ups in the not too distant past of America.
Lynching of black people in the United States often took place on “Market Days,” during which families accompanied by their young children would watch blacks humiliated, killed by hanging and sometimes by burning. To demonstrate a ritual of power, mobs sometimes tortured the victim first before hanging them.
1935 lynching of Rubin Stacy in Fort Lauderdale, Florida
Lynching was(is) highly associated with Southern efforts to retain and enforce white supremacy after their defeat in the American Civil War.
Many lynchings still happen today and go unreported, and they are not necessarily by rope or burning.
Guns, beatings and NOOSES have been hung on trees to afflict MENTAL LYNCHING on African-Americans.
McCain’s Town Hall Meetings have turned into Lynch Mob Meetings during which McCain, Cindy and Sarah Palin intentionally, knowingly and willfully, by using code-words have incited RETARDED Republicans to help them bring down Barack Obama, by hook or crook.
The BLOOD-CUDDLING braying goes like this:
“KILL HIM!”…. “TREASONER!”…. “NIGGER!”…. “NOBAMA!”…. “SOCIALIST!”…. “COMMUNISM!”…. “SOCIALIST SWINE!”…. “OBAMA IS A MUSLIM TERRORIST!”…. “SLEAZY SCUM OF THE EARTH!”…. “OBAMA REGISTERS DEAD PEOPLE!”…. “BARACK ‘HUSSEIN‘ OBAMA!”…. “OFF WITH HIS HEAD!”…. “OBAMA WILL PAINT THE WHITEHOUSE BLACK!”…. “OBAMA IS A BLACK MUSLIM TERRORIST!”….

[Enlarge] Joining in the chorus, a local Black talk show host, a Mr. James T. Harris, took great umbrage in begging McCain to “HIT” Obama.
“I am begging you sir, I am begging you — take it to him,” pleaded the Mr. Harris, earning himself a standing ovation!. “We have the good Reverend Wright. We have [the Rev. Michael L.] Pfleger.
We have all of these shady characters that have surrounded him,” Harris bellowed. “We have corruption here in Wisconsin and voting across the nation. I am begging you, sir. I am begging you.
CNN’s Campbell Brown Laments McCain’s “Hate Speech”
As you can see McCain-Palin campaign is inciting violence and racial hatred against Senator Obama.
They call it “Rallying Their Base.” A base consisting of the most despicable racists on earth.
And it is no surprise that Sarah Palin feels mighty comfortable in this setting. She has a history of association with Alaskan Extremists. Right-wing extremists Mark Chryson and Steve Stoll helped launch Palin’s political career in Alaska, and in return had influence over policy. “Her door was open,” says Chryson — and still is. …. Any little respect I had for McCain is gone forever.
Mr. McCain you are racist pig not fit to lead a nation trying so hard to progress beyond bigotry and racism. You are unfit to run this country.
You are totally sick, divisive, “Viet-Cong deluded,” monster!.
That you referred to a crowd at one of your rally’s as “My Fellow Prisoners!” instead of “My Fellow Citizens” …in a “Prepared” speech!, ….is proof that you have lost your mind,…completely!
“My Fellow Prisoners!”
As for Sarah Palin, first, you are a RACIST, next let me paraphrase the RUSSIANS: “Palin, the shrieking cow from Alaska is the joke of American politics. You are a “housewife, chosen by mere chance.” A Mrs. Nobody “know-it-all.” You are a “Hockey Mom” housewife-cum-small-town gossip merchant and cheap little guttersnipe. You pith-headed little bimbo from the back of beyond. Keep your mouth shut and while you’re at it, make sure the members of your family keep their legs shut too.”

On The Issue of McCain’s Character
————————————-
By: bcblue84′s
————————————-
I forgot to mention John McCain was a POW. While John McCain was a POW, he endured torture, and he dreamt of his beautiful wife and children back home. Carol McCain was John’s first wife. She kept the faith back home. She and her 3 young children struggled to get by. While he was still imprisoned, Carol McCain was in a horrific, near fatal car accident, which left her alive, but crippled and disfigured. Carol McCain endured and whispered not a word of these horrors to her husband because she wanted to spare him the agony and worry. Upon his return from Vietnam, seeing his wife was not the woman he once knew, John McCain, forsake his marital vows, and forsake his wife and his family. John McCain committed an act that women all across America fear. He deserted his wife in her hour of need. He turned his back on her, and took a second wife, a woman nearly 20 years his junior.
This truth makes me uncomfortable. This truth reveals to me the horror of who John McCain really is. He is a man who would rid himself of a woman who he had sworn to protect, who he had sworn to build a life with. He is a man who in his lust for political power, and his overriding vanity, would abandon his first wife, crippled and disfigured, in favor of a blond beauty, nearly 20 years his junior.
John McCain does not embody honor or sacrifice or duty. John McCain embodies a man who would abandon his wife, a man who places no value on sacred marital vows, a man who does not know the meaning of family sacrifice or family commitment.
John McCain and his campaign does nothing but call a lie to the sacrifice and earnest endeavors of military wives. He presents himself as a man with whom Military families can identify. But would they still identify with him if they knew he abandoned the wife and family who supported him when he was in the military?
For every woman who devotes herself to her home and her family, John McCain embodies their worst nightmare. John McCain is the husband who would instantly and arbitrarily discount the work and devotion a wife commits, for a lifetime, to her home and family, the husband who would toss her aside for a younger woman, the husband who would dismiss his solemn marital vows as “a mistake,” the husband with no conscience and no heart and no smidgen of duty. Would the women of America stand by John McCain if they knew even the smallest hint of his first forgotten wife?
How can Cindy McCain voice a need “to make sure the American people understand what we have to say, what we stand for as a husband and wife” when what they stand for is adultery, betrayal, privilege, entitlement, and cover up. Maybe Cindy thinks she deserves respect and instant credibility because she is John McCain’s second wife, or because she is rich and wears $280,000 earrings, or because she owns 8 houses so she has perspective on the economic crisis because she can retreat to one of those 8 houses and wait till her stock portfolio recovers
One Nation Under Fear: Scaredy Cats and Fear-Mongers in the Home of the Brave (And What You Can Do About It) — by Bob Cesca
Editorial Reviews
“Bob Cesca is easily one of the most incisive political writers on the scene today. Nobody else can make me think, laugh and cry–all at once–by simply giving his take on the corrupt political establishment that runs things in Washington.” — Cliff Schecter, Author of The Real McCain: Why Conservatives Don’t Trust Him and Why Independents Shouldn’t
“The great irony of this book is that Bob’s writing is totally fearless. That’s what I love about it. Are you allowed to write a fearless book about country living under fear? Whether he is allowed or not, Bob has done it.” — Cenk Uygur, “The Young Turks”
“Fearless and funny, Bob Cesca captures the smart brawling style of today’s blogosphere, while putting the press and Republicans on notice.” — Eric Boehlert,Media Matters
“As a liberal blogger of profound depth, righteous outrage and sly humor, Cesca’s like a combination of Molly Ivins, H.L. Mencken and Wavy Gravy. I’m not sure what that means but it looks nice in a sentence.” — Steven Weber,Actor/Hockey Mom
Product Description
In post-9/11 America, authoritarians and politicians are happily leaning on the panic button for fun, profit, and the ongoing oppression of a frightened populace. This timely book examines that fear: where it came from, how it’s promoted, and what can be done about it. Author Bob Cesca hits a bracingly wide range of targets — the right-wing noise machine, climate change deniers, creeping fascism from the Bush White House — before presenting a sober, sensible plan for fighting and overcoming this potentially irreversible trend.
Columnist – John Sammon The controversy over Reverend Wright and his torpedoing of the campaign of his parishioner Barack Obama proves how childish and paranoid the American people have become.
If this happened in Europe, Europeans being more sophisticated and somewhat more intelligent on average than Americans, there would be no controversy. Europeans wouldn’t hold Obama accountable for the statements of his pastor.
We’re operating under the allusion that if Wright says it, Obama believes it too. Guilt by association. It’s amusing to hear McCain call Wright’s remarks extremist, a few months after he sang a Beach Boys song, “bomb bomb bomb, bomb bomb Iran (sung to the tune of Barbara Ann).
Nobody called McCain’s sick joke extremist.
What has Wright said? Wright has the right to say it. He said instead of God bless America, God should damn America. In fairness. If the truth be known. Some of America should be damned. Such as the below.
1. America annihilated its Indian population and stole their land.
2. Americans kept others in slavery and then after a war to end it, kept African Americans in virtual servitude for the next hundred years with racist segregation.
3. Other crimes including Agent Orange for which there is not space here.
Wright called America an “imperialist” power. Well. We are. At times. We have a tendency to invade poor little countries much smaller than ours in an attempt to make them see it our way. We’ve invaded Nicaragua a half dozen times. Maybe instead of calling it “imperialist,” we should call it “concern” for Nicaraguan affairs.
President Bush wants the right to torture prisoners, and that’s not called “extremist.”
Wright’s statement that AIDS is a government plot to get rid of black Americans is a little bit far fetched and I can’t go along with that one.
That Obama’s campaign will go down the tubes because of statements made by someone over whom he (Obama) has no control is an abject lesson that to play the political game, you have to be foolishly optimistic and upbeat and never tell Americans very much of the unpleasant truths about their country. Thus, we can always feel superior, that we’re better people.
God only blesses America. God must be American and Republican.
Clearly, there is a price to be paid when you’re too candid.
It’s also another example of how the American people want to fixate on personality rather than issues. It has a long history from the Willie Horton episode that sank Michael Dukakis’s presidential hopes, to Thomas Eagleton, the vice presidential candidate who had prior mental problems, was replaced, but helped to terminate George McGovern’s campaign, or the Swift Boat right wing smear campaign against John Kerry.
You simply can’t be too truthful with the American people, if the truth is unpleasant. This is not new either. They forced Socrates to take poison.
I don’t believe America has sole ownership of morality, that we’re above reproach, that we’re God’s chosen people (especially white Republicans). Does that make me unpatriotic?
Wright is voicing frustration with a system that he thinks (with good reason) has treated he and his flock unfairly. He doesn’t speak for Obama just because Obama attends his church any more than commentator Bill O’Reilly speaks for McCain because McCain appears on his TV show.
The lesson here is clear. If you want to win office, don’t associate with big-mouth preachers, and don’t be too honest with the American people.
Examining the full content of Wright’s sermons and delivery style yields a far more complex message, though it’s one that some will still find objectionable. For more than 30 years every Sunday, Wright walked churchgoers along a winding road from rage to reconciliation, employing a style that validated both. “He’s voicing a reality that those people experience six days a week,” said Rev. Dwight Hopkins, a professor at the University of Chicago Divinity School and Trinity member. “In that sense, he’s saying they’re not insane. That helps them to function the other six days of the week.”
Wright’s preaching, which mixes theology with the often-troubled history of race relations in America, is in the “prophetic” tradition, one of many that have evolved in black pulpits.
But while the rhetoric may come across as harsh, experts say its goal is to convince bitter skeptics that reconciliation is indeed possible.
Rev. Jeremiah Wright Preaches — On Terrorism & America’s Moral Compass
RELATED: To help understand Rev. Wright and his church, please go here: Trinity United Church of Christ Chicago YouTube Channel. Although his most extreme comments are “Inflammatory,” I feel they have been mis-interpreted. TV and Radio “Media Prostitutes,” plucked a few and ran “gung-ho” with them, particularly the “Fixed News Channel” a.k.aFox News Channel — a hate mongering denof snakes and hookers.
Reverend Wright does not preach hate or call upon his parishioners to engage in racist or hateful acts. Overwhelmingly, he delivers a message of empowerment…SAMPLE BELOW

‘Arsonist’ Pat Buchanan
Faced with his pastor’s (Jeremiah Wright) “inflammatory remarks,” Barack Obama on Tuesday in Philadelphia condemned the remarks, but argued that they should be understood in a historical context of black anger. Obama urged the nation to move past “a racial stalemate we’ve been stuck in for years.” He spoke in a formal auditorium, flanked by eight American flags, before a racially mixed, invitation-only audience of about 200 elected officials and community leaders.
Obama’s delivery and demeanor was utterly presidential — projecting intellect, trust, strength and leadership. Sen. Obama was honest, bluntly critical of himself, his black community, whites and America at large.
No American in recent history, other than Martin Luther King, not even the gifted “Gipper,” “The Prince of Darkness,”… Ronald “Nyangau” Reagan could have crafted and delivered a “State of Race” speech like Obama did today.
John Robin Baitz of The Huffington post puts it best: “If there was any doubt about what we have missed in the anti-intellectual, ruthlessly incurious Bush years, and even the slippery Clinton ones (the years of “what is is”), those doubts were laid to rest by Barack Obama’s magisterial speech today. A speech in which he distanced himself from a flawed father figure, Reverend Wright, and did so with almost Shakespearean dignity and honor.”
Tears flow down the face of Marty Nesbit as Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama, the senator from Illinois, speaks in Philadelphia about race.[Click Pic For Larger Image]
This speech was a polar opposite of Mitt “The Flip-Flopper” Romney’s “Mormonism” speech, which he was forced to give to dissuade “Christian Fears” that Mormonism is a cult and not a religion.
But will the “Knucklehead,” lunch-bucket and often semi-illiterate “Talk-Radio Educated” white voter, a.k.a “The Working Class” get the meat of it?
To the college educated liberals — this was a “meat and potato” speech, into which they can sink their teeth — while hoping that the MONSTER of ARKANSAS via NEW YORK, in association with the right-wing “ReTHUGliMAGGOTS,” do not derail Obama’s campaign.
On the right, bigots at Fox News led by Fascist Sean Hannity are in a feeding frenzy, nit-picking Obama’s speech while “refereeing” the issue of Race — with little or zero moral authority. Sean Hannity calling anyone a racist is like an African King-Cobra snake spitting it’s deadly venom at you while trying convince you that it is “Fruit Smack” or “Kool-Aid.” LOL!
From NBC’s Mark Murray: The reviews from political analysts and liberal bloggers are mostly positive. Here’s a sample of their reviews and/or smart takes…
The Atlantic’s Marc Ambinder: “I do think that Obama’s speech was a marvel of contemporary political rhetoric. Politically, analytically and emotively, it hit many high notes. His acknowledgment of white working class resentments (busing) and about the perception that there’s been no racial progress, his willingness to stick by his friends, his grasp of history, his sense that our views of race are cramped and caricatured… all of that is something that even those who disagree with the substance of his speech, can, I think, appreciate.”
The Politico’s Ben Smith: A smart colleague notes that this speech is the polar opposite of this year’s other big speech on faith, in which Mitt Romney went to Texas to talk about Mormonism, but made just one reference to his Mormon faith. Obama mentions Wright by name 14 times.
TPM’s David Kurtz: “It is remarkable for its nuance, for its long view of history, and for its decency. I am not sure, on first take, how effective it is politically. Your thoughts? Late Update: The text is one thing. Delivery is another. And Obama doesn’t seem to have his A game today.”
TPM’s Josh Marshall: “I think I have to dissent from David’s view that Obama didn’t bring his A-game to the speech this morning. I was only able to listen/watch out of the corner of my eye because I was on deadline for something else. But my sense was that the tempo and tenor was suited to the occasion. The kind of stirring delivery he’s made a trademark of in his victory celebrations would not have been appropriate for the moment.”
The pro-Obama Andrew Sullivan:“Alas, I cannot give a more considered response right now as I have to get on the road. But I do want to say that this searing, nuanced, gut-wrenching, loyal, and deeply, deeply Christian speech is the most honest speech on race in America in my adult lifetime. It is a speech we have all been waiting for for a generation. Its ability to embrace both the legitimate fears and resentments of whites and the understandable anger and dashed hopes of many blacks was, in my view, unique in recent American history… I have never felt more convinced that this man’s candidacy – not this man, his candidacy – and what he can bring us to achieve – is an historic opportunity.”
The pro-Clinton Taylor Marsh: “Senator Obama gave a speech today that is larger than politics, but it in no way ends his political challenges. The national wound of race Barack didn’t want to touch is now reopened nationally and in the spotlight again. While his campaign wants to move on, the country will not, because everyone will be talking about race, through the invitation of Obama’s speech today.”
Scout Finch from DailyKos (which is mostly pro-Obama): “This speech is amazingly honest and will hopefully spark a long overdue discussion on race in America. We’ll see if it is enough to blunt to criticism of his relationship with Reverend Wright. I think he’s done a spectacular job thus far of denouncing specific remarks by Reverend Wright, while still standing steadfastly by him and his community.”
Here’s the take from CBN’s David Brody: “We won’t know for awhile how voters view Barack Obama’s speech today on race relations but The Brody File saw it as a HUGE positive for Obama and a successful turning point for the future of his campaign.”
Hotline On Call’s Jennifer Skalka: “Obama gave an eloquent speech today that will do much to quiet the increasingly polarizing debate about race in the Democratic contest. But more importantly, and more tellingly, he gave a deeply personal talk about his race, about his experience as a biracial American. And voters needed to hear it. Not because his biography is, in and of itself, the answer for these confusing times, but because, perhaps, only a person of his experience can dare all of us to be our better selves.”
