Death For Gay Ugandans!: Debunking an ‘Ex-Homosexual’ Therapist’s ‘Cure’ For Homosexuality

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

What I find most disconcerting about this charade is that Africans are once again being duped by “colonialists” — this time by homophobic neo-colonialists, still holding the same book (the Bible), a book they used several decades ago to bamboozle, trample on and de-humanize Africans. Under colonial Europe, Africans received only limited education, which would allow them to read the Bible and take orders efficiently from the Europeans. A good chunk of the problems in Africa today can be linked directly to the Europeans — who divided Africa amongst themselves like a loaf of bread, resulting in todays conflicts — by exploiting Africa’s resources and then leaving behind political structure that were geared toward tyranny and exploitation. It is high time Africans decolonized their minds and stopped relying on neo-colonial Republican bigots and racists to solve their social problems.

Thieving Richard Cohen, a “former homosexual“, claims he can cure “Gayness” by cuddling with “Active Homosexuals.LOL! Only a Republican can come up with such an incredulous scheme to defraud vulnerable homosexuals — who are hounded and murdered all over the world because of their sexual orientation.

Richard Cohen, the “ex-homosexual” therapist is head of the “International Healing Foundation,” which purportedly helps gay people become straight. Cohen’s rancid slander against gay people (they’re a threat to children, etc.), masquerading as “research,” is being used by advocates (Evangelical Republicans) of a proposed law in Uganda that would allow the state to execute homosexuals, reports Glenn Greenwald.

Republicans have invaded Museveni’s Uganda to help him kill his own people. I call this “Homophobic Neo-colonialism.” The teachings of homosexual “healer” Richard Cohen (of the International Healing Foundation‘) and evangelical Republicans has inspired Uganda’s hateful new legislation — “Kill All The Gays

Evangelical Republicans Behind ‘Kill The Gays’ Law in Uganda

An anti-gay bill in Uganda that proposes the death penalty and long prison sentences for homosexual acts. Uganda’s Parliament — encouraged by American evangelicals (who converted Uganda’s President, Yoweri Museveni, pictured below) — in October introduced a new draft legislation, The Anti-Homosexuality Bill, that will “… greatly expand criminal penalties against lesbians and gays.” Currently, “carnal knowledge of any person against the order of nature” carries a sentence of up to 7+ years imprisonment under Uganda’s penal code. The proposed legislation seeks to imprison anyone convicted of “the offense of homosexuality” for life, while “aggravated homosexuality,” will incur the death penalty.

Uganda’s President, Yoweri Museveni Supports The Bill
Note: Museveni Wears Body & Head (The Hat!) Armor 24/7

Uganda's President Yoweri MuseveniThe draft anti-Homosexuality Bill of 2009 tabled by legislator David Bahati seeks to impose strict sanctions on homosexuality and proposes long jail terms and/or death for anyone who engages in it or who aids, abets, counsels or procures another to engage in it.

Uganda is largely evangelical and very Bible-based — with American evangelists in the country claiming that homosexuality is evil and sinful.

One such leader is the US-based Rick Warren who allegedly told Ugandans that homosexuality is not a natural way of life and thus not a human right. [ READ MORE ]

George Bush’s 2003 $15 billion to fight AIDS in developing countries — provided an opening for evangelical Christians who previously did little to nothing about aids — to invade these third world nations, with their message of hate and intolerance — while hiding behind Bush’s “AID.

Helen Epstein wrote in April 2008: While Catholic and Protestant churches have been running AIDS programs since the 1980s, few evangelical Christian groups have done so. Indeed, as the deadly virus spread around the world, many evangelical Christians were silent or worse. Jerry Falwell called AIDS God’s judgment on promiscuity, and former Senator Jesse Helms, a longtime congressional ally of the evangelicals, told The New York Times in 1995 that AIDS funding should be reduced because homosexuals contract the disease through their “deliberate, disgusting, revolting conduct.” [ READ MORE ]

Book Review — The age of ‘American Unreason’

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly: Inspired by Richard Hofstadter’s trenchant 1963 cultural analysis Anti-Intellectualism in American Life, Jacoby (Freethinkers: A History of American Secularism) has produced an engaging, updated and meticulously thought-out continuation of her academic idol’s research.

The Age of American UnreasonDismayed by the average U.S. citizen’s political and social apathy and the overall crisis of memory and knowledge involving everything about the way we learn and think, Jacoby passionately argues that the nation’s current cult of unreason has deadly and destructive consequences (the war in Iraq, for one) and traces the seeds of current anti-intellectualism (and its partner in crime, antirationalism) back to post-WWII society.

Unafraid of pointing fingers, she singles out mass media and the resurgence of fundamentalist religion as the primary vectors of anti-intellectualism, while also having harsh words for pseudoscientists.

Through historical research, Jacoby breaks down popular beliefs that the 1950s were a cultural wasteland and the 1960s were solely a breeding ground for liberals.

Though sometimes partial to inflated prose (America’s endemic anti-intellectual tendencies have been grievously exacerbated by a new species of semiconscious anti-rationalism), Jacoby has assembled an erudite mix of personal anecdotes, cultural history and social commentary to decry America’s retreat into junk thought. (Feb. 12)

————————–

From The New Yorker: Identifying herself as a “cultural conservationist” (but by no means a cultural conservative), Jacoby laments the decline of middlebrow American culture and presents a cogent defense of intellectualism.

America, she believes, faces a “crisis of memory and knowledge,” in which anti-intellectualism is not only tolerated but celebrated by those in politics and the media to whom we are all “just folks.

The Internet, for all its promise, is too often “a highway to the far-flung regions of junk thought.” Meanwhile, twenty-five per cent of high-school biology teachers believe that human beings and dinosaurs shared the earth, and more than a third of Americans can?t name a single First Amendment right.

In such an environment, Jacoby argues, the secular left and the religious right can have no fruitful dialogue on issues like the separation of church and state.

She offers little hope that the situation will improve, opining that, despite increasing levels of education, “Americans seem to know less and less.” — Click here to subscribe to The New Yorker

Rush Limbaugh Is An Asshole
   [ Pic: Rush Limbaugh ]

Who is Rush Limbaugh?

He is America’s most notorious political shock jock. An ass-hole of humongous magnitude.

A Big Fat Idiot to be precise. A racist, drug-addicted, lying, hypocritical THUG.

Rush has a dedicated congregation of millions of right-wing Americans listening to his bull-shit on radio every week.

Mr. Limbaugh is a huge tank — full of mis-information excrement — a delicacy in right-wing circles.

Listen to this goon — equate Barack Obama with Osama Bin Laden.

Hugo Chavez For President Of The United States

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

“President Hugo Chavez ordered construction halted on a major shopping mall in Caracas on Sunday, saying the government will expropriate the unfinished building.

ConsumerismThe Venezuelan leader said it would be out of line with his government’s socialist vision to allow the new Sambil mall to take up precious urban real estate — and that unbridled consumerism isn’t his idea of progress either.” Ian James, Associated Press Writer

Shopping malls, with shoppers scurrying like ants to buy things they don’t need and can’t afford, are the perfect symbol of consumerism run amok. The president’s timely action is more powerful than any Christmas sermon delivered by Rick Warren or Pat Robertson. At this time of the year our heads shouldn’t be filled with visions of Victoria’s Secret, Macys and Best Buy, but with images of the poor and needy who need our help.

“The president also has urged Venezuelans to shed their materialism and their taste for designer clothes, sport utility vehicles, Scotch whisky and plastic surgery” — AP

A statesman speaks the truth in love to his constituents, Chavez rightfully rebuked the Venezuelans for embracing American-style rampant consumerism. It’s instructive to contrast the Venezuelan president’s rebuke of his people with Bush’s advice to Americans in the aftermath of 9/11. Instead of calling upon Americans to make sacrifices in a time of war, he advised us to shop till we drop.

American critics of Chavez quickly labeled his action “socialist“, some of these same folks uttered not a word of protest when Bush was nationalizing banks, insurance companies and now automobile manufacturers. Bush and Chavez are both enamored with socialism, but there’s one big difference: Dubya takes over companies to bail out the wealthy; Chavez expropriates private buildings to help the poor. Chavez didn’t take over the mall to hand it over to an insurance company, he’s going to convert it into a facility that will serve the people of Venezuela.

If a politician with the integrity of Chavez had been president of the United States for the last eight years, our economy would not be in shambles and we would not be entangled in two unnecessary and pointless wars.

Viva Hugo Chavez!

Bush, don’t let the door hit you on your way out!

1. Can Obama Save Capitalism? [Fareed Zakaria]– The great sociologist Max Weber described the power of charisma as “a certain quality of an individual personality, by virtue of which he is set apart from ordinary men and treated as endowed with supernatural, superhuman, or at least specifically exceptional powers or qualities.” Some of Barack Obama’s supporters have at times sounded as if they saw “the one” in these terms. There’s no doubt that Obama is intensely charismatic and that it provides him with unusual political capital. But very soon — say on Jan. 20, 2009 — his powers will start to mutate, and they will derive less from his persona and more from his office. He will shift, in Weber’s terminology, from wielding charismatic authority to legal authority. — [READ MORE]

2. Laissez-Faire Capitalism Should Be as Dead as Soviet Communism [Arianna Huffington] — The collapse of Communism as a political system sounded the death knell for Marxism as an ideology. But while laissez-faire capitalism has been a monumental failure in practice, and soundly defeated at the polls, the ideology is still alive and kicking. The only place you can find an American Marxist these days is teaching a college linguistic theory class. But you can find all manner of free market fundamentalists still on the Senate floor or in Governor’s mansions or showing up on TV trying to peddle the deregulation snake oil. — [READ MORE]

Is Obama’s Inaugural Invitation of ‘Evangelical Bigot’ Rick Warren a mistake?

Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Writes: Joe Solmonese

Obama’s Inaugural Mistake

“Rick Warren has compared same-sex marriage to incest, pedophilia and polygamy. He may cloak himself in media-friendly happy talk that plays well on television, but he stands steadfastly against any measure of equality for LGBT Americans.” Inviting Warren to set the tone at the dawn of this new presidency sends a chilling message to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Americans. It makes us uncertain about this exciting, young president-elect who has said repeatedly that we are part of his America, too. — Joe Solmones

It is difficult to comprehend how our president-elect, who has been so spot on in nearly every political move and gesture, could fail to grasp the symbolism of inviting an anti-gay theologian to deliver his inaugural invocation. And the Obama campaign’s response to the anger about this decision? Hey, we’re also bringing a gay marching band. You know how the gays love a parade.

Yes, the Rev. Rick Warren, pastor of the humongous, evangelical Saddleback Church in Orange County, Calif., has a sound message on poverty. And certainly, in the world of politics, there is a view that Barack Obama owes Warren for bringing him before fellow evangelicals, despite fierce opposition during the heat of the presidential campaign.

But here’s the other thing about Warren, the author of the bestselling book “The Purpose Driven Life“: He was a general in the campaign to pass California’s Proposition 8, which dissolved the legal marriage rights of loving, committed same-sex couples. …. [READ MORE]

Has Barack Obama betrayed the left by choosing someone so closely identified with the anti-abortion and anti-gay marriage positions of the Christian Right? Does this mean Warren has succeeded Billy Graham as America’s pastor? Will the 2009 Inaugural Invocation be the first in American history delivered by a man with a goatee?
