MediaMatters: WorldNetDaily falsely claimed that alleged Fort Hood shooter Nidal Hasan “advised Obama transition” in the headline of an article by Jerome Corsi highlighting his listing as a “participant” in a report for the Homeland Security Policy Institute (HSPI) at George Washington University’s Presidential Transition Task Force.
However, Corsi himself acknowledges that there is no evidence that “the group played any formal role in the official Obama transition” — indeed, the Task Force was initiated in April 2008. Moreover, while Hasan was listed as one of approximately 300 “Task Force Event Participants” in the report’s appendix, HSPI has reportedly said he was not a “member” of the Task Force, and was listed because he RSVP’d for several of the group’s open events. In 2004, Corsi helped launch the Swift Boat smear campaign with a book of distortions and lies he wrote about John Kerry, who did not fight back effectively. When he tried the same on President Obama, he was rebuffed vigorously. Corsi and his right-wing backers were counting on Obama not fighting back. Obviously his tactic of spreading lies and desperate fabrications about Obama in order to elect John McCain and continue George Bush’s failed policies, failed miserably.

There was always going to be a point of revolt and panic for a core group of Americans who believe that Obama simply cannot be president — because he’s black or liberal or young or relatively new. This is that point. As the polls suggest a strong victory, the Hannity-Limbaugh-Steyn-O’Reilly base are going into shock and extreme rage. McCain and Palin have decided to stoke this rage, to foment it, to encourage paranoid notions that somehow Obama is a “secret” terrorist or Islamist or foreigner. These are base emotions in both sense of the word.

Meanwhile Jerome Corsi, freshly deported from Kenya, where he went to promote his Smear-Book, The Obama Nation — is dipping his fingers up his butt-hole once again.

On Bill Cunningham’s radio show, Corsi touted dubious “documents” he claims will “prove” Obama “made a pact” with Raila Odinga — Kenya’s Prime Minister.
Jerome Corsi claimed on Bill Cunningham’s radio show that he “came out of Kenya” with “documents” proving that Sen. Barack Obama “made a pact with this radical leftist politician Raila Odinga who is perfectly happy to expand Islamic Sharia law in Kenya and have tribal violence to get power.”
But the only “documents” Corsi has thus far provided — purported emails listing the contact in his Senate office to work with Odinga — do not establish that Obama “made a pact” with Odinga, and they “appear not to have been written by a native English speaker,” as Politico’s Ben Smith noted.
In an October 10 post on his Politico blog, Ben Smith wrote of the emails Corsi purportedly obtained in Kenya:

Jerome Corsi was arrested shortly after 8a.m. just as he was about to address a news conference to launch his anti-Obama book in Nairobi.
He was taken to the Immigration headquarters at Nyayo House and later deported on the British Airways midnight flight out of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
He was due to launch the book, which depicts Mr Obama, whose father was Kenyan, as a sympathizer of radical Islam and communism, at the Laico Regency Hotel.
But he was arrested there before he could speak and driven with an assistant, Mr Timothy M. Bueler, to Nyayo House, around 500 metres away.
The Immigration officials also impounded copies of the Obama book.
At Nyayo House, the two were held for four hours and questioned by officials led by the Director of Immigration, Mr Albert Musasia, about his presence in Kenya.
The decision to deport him was made after it emerged that Dr Corsi and Mr Bueler had entered the country as tourists, stating they intended to visit game parks.
The book launch was a commercial venture, therefore, they had contravened their immigration status.
After questioning, the two were taken to the office of the Permanent Secretary, Mr Emmanuel Kisombe, and from there through the basement to a car in which they were driven to the house where Dr Corsi had been staying in Runda for verification of his passport and visa before they were escorted to the airport.
There he and his aide were held in the Immigration office to await their flight out of the country.
A US embassy official said they were not told officially about the arrests, saying they had learnt about them from the media.
The official said Dr Corsi’s was a private individual’s visit and did not warrant comment from the embassy since he was not a US government official.
Questioned
Police spokesman Eric Kiraithe commented later that the two US citizens were summoned by the Immigration department to be questioned on the status of their stay in the country.
He also said that they had chosen to fly out of the country voluntarily after being questioned.
Dr Corsi flew into Kenya last Tuesday and was booked to stay at the Laico Regency (formerly Grand Regency) at 7.55am, although hotel communications manager Jenifer Wanza said he had been staying in Runda.
Dr Corsi was expected to stay at the hotel for one month.
General manager Solomon Adede later issued a statement distancing the hotel from the planned news conference, scheduled to take place at the Bogoria room.
He said the management would not allow such a function, and added: ‘Laico Regency is a law-abiding institution and does not condone any smear campaigns.‘
He said the booking for the Press conference had been made by Mr Peter Mbae, editor-in-chief of The Eagle Christian magazine.

Mr Mbae founded the newspaper and has played an active role in religious organisations. Posters that were announcing the news conference were quickly pulled down at the hotel.
Kenya features prominently in Dr Corsi’s book, The Obama Nation, which has been seen primarily as a vehicle to run a smear campaign against Mr Obama.
Dr Corsi states early in the book that Kenya will play a key part in his account because ‘Barack Obama himself tells us that Kenya is an important part of who he is, even today.’
But the book has been widely criticised for containing many inaccuracies and distortions.
When it was released, Obama spokesman Tommy Vietor said: ‘Jerome Corsi is a discredited liar who is peddling another piece of garbage to continue the Bush-Cheney politics he helped perpetuate four years ago.‘
Similar attacks were published about former presidents Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton during their campaigns to reach the White House.
Perhaps significantly both went on to win the presidency.
Dr Corsi, a well-known right-wing author, used Prime Minister Raila Odinga as a means of attacking Mr Obama on the two fronts of radical Islam and communism.
The Prime Minister, portrayed as a close associate of Mr Obama, is described as ‘a Muslim sympathizer with well-known communist political roots.”
Obama’s father
The book suggests that Mr Odinga might be a Muslim, even though, as it admits, he ‘today professes to be an Anglican.”
The book also attacks Obama’s father Mr Barack Obama Snr, who came from Siaya in Nyanza Province and who died in 1982, referring to him as ‘an alcoholic polygamist‘ and a Muslim who gravitated to the ‘more extreme communist position openly advocated by and identified with Oginga Odinga.‘
The book distorts Mr Obama’s political views and associations — often by means of inaccuracies — in an attempt to destroy his image as a new-style politician able to bridge cultural, racial and ideological divides.
A series of ads in Michigan highlight this year’s roughest political attacks: narrowly aimed shots from small groups. They are not coming with the loud, nationally recognized cannon blast of the type launched by Swift Boat Veterans for Truth against Senator John Kerry in 2004, but, rather, as more stealthy, narrowly aimed rifle shots from smaller groups armed with incendiary material.
The advertisements running here (Macomb County, Michigan) against Mr. Obama come from a group called Freedom’s Defense Fund, a political action committee based in Washington that was formed four years ago and raises money from conservatives around the country. The advertisements have stood out because of the group’s connections — including to its paid consultant, Jerome S. Corsi, the author of the highly negative, largely discredited political biography of Mr. Obama, “Obama Nation” — and what local critics say are their racial overtones…
A Mr. Centanni said said Freedom’s Defense Fund, with relatively scant resources to spread nationally, decided it could have the most impact by focusing its presidential efforts here for tens of thousands.

Despite stating that he had apologized for what was described as a “series of bigoted and hateful posts,” Jerome Corsi, author of The Obama Nation, wass scheduled to appear with host James Edwards on the August 17 edition of The Political Cesspool Radio Show [Republican Hate Radio], which, according to its “Statement of Principles,” “represents a philosophy that is pro-White.” In a blog post, Edwards has stated that “interracial sex is white genocide.”
SPLC Exposes Anti-Obama Propagandist’s Appearance on Racist Radio Show
Jerome Corsi, the right-wing author who is promoting his best-selling book attacking Barack Obama, appeared as recently as late July on an overtly racist, anti-Semitic radio show called “The Political Cesspool.”
The SPLC reported Corsi’s racist radio connection on Aug. 13, noting that he was scheduled for another interview on Aug. 17. The earlier interview was also streamed live by the white nationalist website Stormfront, which is run by former Klan leader Don Black.
Corsi’s book has been roundly denounced by news commentators, the watchdog group Media Matters and the Obama campaign as being riddled with falsehoods and distortions. He was also the co-author of Unfit for Command, the book that helped torpedo John Kerry’s presidential campaign in 2004.

Mexican Immigrants Protest Corsi Insult-mongerer Jerome Corsi has made a career of peddling conspiracy theories in far-right publications and his own books, variously attacking 2004 presidential candidate John Kerry, undocumented immigrants, and alleged secret plans to merge Mexico, the United States and Canada into a so-called “North American Union.”
But it was Corsi’s Unfit for Command: Swift Boat Veterans Speak Out Against John Kerry, that brought him and co-author John O’Neill to national attention — in part because of many falsehoods in its claims about the legitimacy of Kerry’s medals from the Vietnam War. Corsi followed that up with Minuteman: The Battle to Secure America’s Borders, written with Minuteman vigilante leader Jim Gilchrist, and most recently, The Late Great U.S.A.: The Coming Merger with Mexico and Canada, which claims to reveal a secret plan, possibly including “an executive branch coup d’etat,” to merge the three countries. The new country, the two writers claim, will see the dollar replaced by the so-called “Amero.”
Corsi also is a bigot. During the 2004 presidential campaign, Media Matters for America compiled comments Corsi made on the far-right Free Republic website. There, Corsi described Islam as “a worthless, dangerous, Satanic religion,” described Muslims as “boy bumpers” and “women haters,” and suggested that “boy buggering in both Islam and Catholicism is okay with the Pope as long as it isn’t reported by the liberal press.” And he mocked Kerry’s supposed Jewish ancestry. The comments set off an uproar, with Unfit for Command co-author O’Neill falsely claiming to MSNBC host Joe Scarborough that Corsi was merely “an editor” of the book, not the co-author, in an attempt to put distance between himself and Corsi.
Corsi’s most incredible book has to be 2005’s Black Gold Stranglehold: The Myth of Scarcity and the Politics of Oil. In it, Corsi argues that oil — which scientists unanimously agree is derived from ancient organic substances like vegetable material — is actually “abiotic,” or not related to living things. Rather, Corsi and his co-author opine, oil is produced by an underground chemical process that is limitless. Therefore, they conclude, that oil is not a finite resource.
In 2006, Corsi suffered an attack from an unexpected quarter, with right-wing nativist commentator Debbie Schlussel accusing him of plagiarizing parts of her columns and using them under his byline. Schlussel called Corsi “a thief.”
But Corsi soldiers on. In January 2007, he was recruited to serve as the senior political strategist for TheVanguard.org, a major conservative effort meant to serve as a right-wing MoveOn.org. At press time, the project had yet to take off.
