Teeth clenched, Usain Bolt grimaced as he churned toward the finish line, in the last event (The 4x100m Relay) — at the 2011 IAAF Daegu World Championships.
Bolt, who took over the anchor position for the first time in a major position in the absence of the injured Asafa Powell, blazed down the stretch and crossed the line at 37.04 seconds. It was the only world record set in nine days of competition at the 2011 world track and field championships in Daegu, South Korea. [ READ MORE ]

Last week he smeared Indian Americans and India — by attacking Indian trained doctors and the Ganges, a sacred body of water for Indians of the Hindu faith.
Now, this goon is swinging at Usain Bolt — the great Jamaican ambassador to the world by way of three sprint world records — the greatest sprinter of all time, as far as I am concerned!

MediaMatters: On his Fox News show, Glenn Beck advanced the dubious rumor that the White House “threatened” to close Nebraska’s Offutt Air Force Base “if Senator Ben Nelson [D-NE] doesn’t fall in line with health care,” despite repeatedly acknowledging that he did not know whether the rumor — which he said “borders on treason” — was true. Beck went on to cite what he said was Obama’s delay in responding to a request for additional troops in Afghanistan, Obama’s comments reacting to the deadly shooting at Fort Hood, courts-martial of two Navy SEALs, and the actions of several individuals with no connection to the White House as constituting what he called a “preponderance of the evidence of Chicago thuggery” from the White House, strongly suggesting that the rumor was more credible than the administration’s denial. Bolt Again, and Again! 19.19 World Record in Berlin!
BERLIN — Bolt Runs Away With Another One: Usain Bolt ran the 200 meters in 19.19 seconds, 11-hundredths of a second faster than the world record he established a year ago at the Beijing Olympics. So it went again Thursday at the world championships on the blue track he has made his latest playground. Bolt proved that he did not require the hot breath of a dangerous challenger like Tyson Gay to obliterate his own world record in the 200 meters. Running alone — startlingly alone — for the last half of the race in Lane 5, Bolt showed no interest in slowing down with the gold medal already a foregone conclusion. Instead, he sprinted through the finish, and the result was the stunning, symmetrical time of 19.19 seconds. [ READ MORE ]

1.Earlier on Usain Bolt Broke His 100m Record — Eating up 100 meters of track in an astonishing 9.58secs. Below is a graphic that shows how previous record holders would have fared against Mr. Bolt. Ray Stefani, an engineering professor emeritus at California State University Long Beach and a researcher on sports performance, calculated where the other six would be on the track at the moment Bolt reached the finish line. Those calculations are based on each runner’s sprinting at a constant velocity (in reality, some runners sprint faster toward the finish) and don’t account for track conditions those runners faced at the time, or the inferior quality of their shoes.

BBC: Triple Olympic champion Usain Bolt ran the fourth-fastest 200m time in history as he stormed to victory in appalling conditions at the Lausanne Grand Prix.
Bolt ran 19.59 seconds despite a strong headwind and heavy rain in Switzerland.
Olympic 400m champion Lashawn Merritt was second with Shawn Crawford fourth, while Asafa Powell won the 100m.
Asked if he would have broken the world record in better weather Bolt said: “I don’t even think of it in those terms, I was just trying to test myself.”
The 22-year-old Jamaican admitted that there was still room for improvement ahead of next month’s world championships, but was otherwise pleased with his form.
“I’m in good shape, but I’m not fully ready yet. I still need to work on a few technical things,” said the 100m and 200m world record holder. [ READ MORE ] [ IAAF WEBSITE ]
Last week Olympic champion Usain Bolt clocked a wind-assisted 9.77 seconds over 100 metres at the Ostrava grand prix.
The Jamaican, who set a world record of 9.69 seconds in the Beijing final last year, was assisted by a following wind of 2.1 metres a second.
Living up to the promise he made earlier, Usain Bolt delivered a “good time” in his third 100m outing of the season to cap a thoroughly entertaining 48th edition of the Golden Spike Ostrava – IAAF World Athletics Tour.
Bolt – ‘Second worst start I ever had’
While his 9.77 (wind + 2.1) performance was more than a quarter of a second ahead of his closest pursuer, Bolt had to work particularly hard to overcome a sluggish start, and the effort he produced clearly showed on his face as he accelerated towards the finish.
“That’s probably the second worst start I ever had,” he said of his 0.206 reaction time, the slowest of the field by far. Approaching midway, he was in third or fourth position, before finally shifting gears in his typically stronger second half
“I saw that I was behind and I really wanted to run a fast time here, so I really pushed hard to get back. That’s why you saw me really dipping at the line. I’m always good in the second half and that was when I got back into the race.”
Bolt confirmed that his sub-9.8 dash, under all conditions equal to his fourth fastest clocking ever, was a nice confidence booster after his last outing in Toronto, where he ran 10.00 in wet conditions. “Now I’m really looking forward to the (Jamaican) trials.”
Craig Pickering, last year’s winner here, was second in 10.08, and Ronald Pognon third in 10.15. [ READ MORE ]
